Awakening and Soul Power

A Martial Soul is awakened through an awakening formation and is accompanied by an innate Soul Power test. Possessing Soul Power allows the awakened individual to pursue the path of a Soul Master. Yao Shi awakened Innate Full Soul Power—level ten—despite his Martial Soul initially being dismissed as a useless tree branch 1.

• Soul Masters typically require Soul Rings to advance beyond major Soul Power thresholds and gain Soul Skills 3 28.

Soul Rings and Soul Skills

Soul Rings grant Soul Skills, while some Martial Souls also develop passive traits. Most Soul Masters acquire rings from Soul Beasts, but Yao Shi's Martial Soul is an abnormal exception that forms its own rings as his Soul Power rises 3 32.

• Ring quality and age are significant indicators of power; thousand-year, blood-red, and hundred-thousand-year rings are treated as extraordinary 3 13 41 101.
• A Soul Ring's attribute should normally suit the Martial Soul. Yao Shi notes that Huo Yuhao's Spirit Eyes would ordinarily require a spiritual-attribute ring rather than a wind-attribute one 9.
• Soul Skills may provide attack, defense, healing, control, movement, domains, or other effects 3 7 24 68.
• Certain Martial Souls can produce traits separate from Soul Skills, such as Yao Shi's immortality and Abundant Physique 7.

Yao Shi's Martial Soul Evolution

Yao Shi's Martial Soul began as a branch identified by him as Jianmu. It later became known as the Ambrosial Arbor and fused with his body as the power of Abundance emerged 1 3 6 16.
