History

Shui Yue'er was introduced at Shui Qinghan's residence as Shui Bing'er's younger sister and Shui Qingrou's daughter 11. Unlike her more mature elder sister, Yue'er was thrilled that Jiang Lan's arrival meant she could finally be the older sibling. She eagerly accepted his address of “Senior Sister Yue'er” and promised to protect him, though his cultivation already exceeded hers 11 12.

Jiang Lan's Sea of Tides enabled Shui Qinghan to push the three children through demanding daily training without leaving them injured or exhausted 14 15. Yue'er broke through Rank 10 after one month, then consumed thousand-year whale glue to strengthen her body and meridians before hunting her first soul beast 15.

Ten days after leaving with Shui Qingrou, Yue'er returned with an 800-year first soul ring—an unusually high age for a first ring—and reached Rank 13 18. Her new Water Blade skill displayed strong destructive power and room for development through greater water-element control 18.

After enrolling at Tianshui Academy with Jiang Lan and Shui Bing'er, Yue'er continued to cultivate in the academy's water-attribute training grounds 19 21. She later joined Jiang Lan and Shui Bing'er in the Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Marrow Cave, where the dense ice-attributed energy could also be refined by water-attributed soul masters 37 40. During this cultivation period in the Far North, she successfully broke through to Level 20 42, underwent low-grade Ice-Fire Body Tempering to refine Ten-Thousand-Year Whale Glue 46, and subsequently absorbed a 3,600-year second soul ring to reach Level 25 50.

Returning to Dragon City's Great Soul Arena alongside Jiang Lan, Shui Bing'er, and Xue Wu, Yue'er debuted under the alias "Mysterious Masked Woman" in one-on-one and two-on-two matches, showcasing her powerful clone abilities 51 52. She later participated in academy exchanges against Blazing Fire Academy, displaying her growth and teamwork alongside her peers 79 80.

During the exchange matches, Yue'er and Shui Bing'er defeated or restrained numerous opponents through their high-quality second soul rings and complementary abilities. Shui Qinghan also criticized Yue'er for conserving her Soul Power too heavily when the team already held an advantage, teaching her to use additional Water Clones more aggressively 69 70 83. Yue'er later helped complete Tianshui Academy's overwhelming victory over Plant Academy's individual fighters, using repeated Water Blades against the flying Huo brothers 85 100. In the team exchange against Plant Academy, she was eventually eliminated alongside Yu Hairou after Shui Bing'er deliberately yielded to preserve the friendly relationship between the academies 101.

Yue'er subsequently accompanied Shui Qinghan, Jiang Lan, and the other academy representatives on their journey to hunt high-level Soul Beasts 102. During an attack by pirates, she helped Yu Hairou eliminate the remaining pirates on deck, though the violence and battlefield aftermath left her nauseated and visibly shaken 127. Later, while traveling through the sea with the Demon Soul Great White Sharks and the Zi Zhenzhu, she completed absorption of her third soul ring and reached Level 34 129 134.

Her third soul skill, Destruction of the Mirror, gave her a powerful instant control ability capable of mentally locking onto multiple targets and encasing same-rank Soul Masters in dark-red crystals 134 135. The skill's destructive second phase could shatter both the crystals and anyone trapped within them, making it dangerous enough that Jiang Lan warned her not to use it casually against people 135.

Appearance

Shui Yue'er resembles Shui Bing'er, with aqua-blue, lightly curled long hair, aqua-blue dresses, and delicate features 11. She was initially portrayed as a small child, but her first soul ring caused a sharp growth spurt that left her roughly Jiang Lan's height, and she grew further after absorbing her second ring 19 51. After obtaining her third soul ring, she appeared approximately fourteen or fifteen years old 134.

Personality

Shui Yue'er is playful, affectionate, and enthusiastic about her place as Jiang Lan's senior sister. She takes pride in looking after him, eagerly wakes him for school, and is openly delighted when reunited with him after a prolonged separation 12 19 37.

She also has a competitive streak. She challenged Jiang Lan to a swimming contest through the frigid spring despite the difference in their soul power, and she eagerly shows off improvements such as her soul rings and combat skills 18 38 39 52. Although she can be naive about romantic matters, she is sensitive to her sister's feelings and seeks reassurance that Shui Bing'er also missed her 37 39.

Yue'er is confident in her abilities but can become discouraged when her rapid progress still leaves her behind Jiang Lan and Shui Bing'er 42. She is also learning to balance caution with aggression in combat: her tendency to conserve Soul Power was effective in some situations but was criticized when it prevented the team from capitalizing on an advantage 83.

Despite her cheerful and competitive nature, Yue'er reacts strongly to genuine violence. She became sick and distressed after helping defeat the pirates aboard the Zi Zhenzhu, revealing a sensitive side beneath her confidence as a Soul Master 127.
