Shui Yue'er was introduced at Shui Qinghan's residence as Shui Bing'er's younger sister and Shui Qingrou's daughter. Unlike her more mature elder sister, Yue'er was thrilled that Jiang Lan's arrival meant she could finally be the older sibling. She eagerly accepted his address of “Senior Sister Yue'er” and promised to protect him, though his cultivation already exceeded hers 11 12.

Jiang Lan's Sea of Tides enabled Shui Qinghan to push the three children through demanding daily training without leaving them injured or exhausted. Yue'er broke through Rank 10 after one month, then consumed thousand-year whale glue to strengthen her body and meridians before hunting her first soul beast 15.

Ten days after leaving with Shui Qingrou, Yue'er returned with an 800-year first soul ring—an unusually high age for a first ring—and reached Rank 13. Her new Water Blade skill displayed strong destructive power and room for development through greater water-element control 18.

After enrolling at Tianshui Academy with Jiang Lan and Shui Bing'er, Yue'er continued to cultivate in the academy's water-attribute training grounds. By the time Jiang Lan reached Rank 20, she had reached Rank 16 19 21. She later joined Jiang Lan and Shui Bing'er in the Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Marrow Cave, where the dense ice-attributed energy could also be refined by water-attributed soul masters 37 40.

Appearance

Shui Yue'er resembles Shui Bing'er, with aqua-blue, lightly curled long hair, aqua-blue dresses, and delicate features. She was initially portrayed as a small child, but her first soul ring caused a sharp growth spurt that left her roughly Jiang Lan's height 11 19.

Personality

Shui Yue'er is playful, affectionate, and enthusiastic about her place as Jiang Lan's senior sister. She takes pride in looking after him, eagerly wakes him for school, and is openly delighted when reunited with him after a prolonged separation 12 19 37.

She also has a competitive streak. She challenged Jiang Lan to a swimming contest through the frigid spring despite the difference in their soul power, and she eagerly shows off improvements such as her first soul ring and Water Blade 18 38 39. Although she can be naive about romantic matters, she is sensitive to her sister's feelings and seeks reassurance that Shui Bing'er also missed her 37 39.
