Background / History

Xie Xie meets Lin Yu at a restaurant after recognizing him as a fellow first-year at Eastsea Academy. He asks Lin Yu for information on Class One's promotion-match lineup, but backs down after Lin Yu reveals three purple soul rings and identifies himself as a Soul Elder. Xie Xie explains that his own competing students undergo harsh additional training under Wu Changkong. 23

He tells Lin Yu that his father's returning fleet has recovered a complete Sea Dragon Bone and a chest of Dragon Gold, then invites him to view the arrival through the crew families' priority entrance. His father later reports that the fleet was delayed by countercurrents and sea soul beasts, returning alone in a mecha after resolving the problem. 23 24

At the Sea Dragon Bone auction, Xie Xie initially dismisses Lin Yu's concerns over the venue's limited exits and security risks. When poisoned drinks are served, he follows Lin Yu's plan to feign unconsciousness. After evil soul masters massacre attendees and steal the Sea Dragon Bone, he escapes with Lin Yu through the ventilation ducts. 24

During their escape, Xie Xie deflects a ghostly dart with his Light Dragon Dagger and offers to hold off an approaching Evil Soul Ancestor so Lin Yu can flee. After Lin Yu kills the attacker, Xie Xie helps inspect a map of the Eastsea Boat Guild Hall and identifies the emblem of the pirate organization Old Jack. 24 25 26

Personality

Xie Xie is curious and excitable, especially when discussing the Sea Dragon Bone and Dragon Gold recovered by his father's fleet. He is also more trusting and less risk-conscious than Lin Yu, initially treating Lin Yu's safety concerns as excessive and struggling to grasp the danger of the poisoned auction. 23 24

Despite his inexperience, he shows courage under pressure. He is prepared to confront a stronger Evil Soul Ancestor alone to buy Lin Yu time, and he remains useful during the escape by recognizing threats, reading the guild-hall map, and using his knowledge of Old Jack. 25 26
