Background / History

Shrek Academy is based in Shrek City, northwest of the Star Dou Great Forest. Its territory extends close enough to the forest that Holy Spirit Cult members treat the prospect of Shrek reinforcements as a major danger. Students below Soul King rank are barred from entering the forest from the front, which faces the core region and is vulnerable to beast tides. 6 7

The academy was originally limited to the inner academy on Sea God Island before expanding at the urging of several great empires. Sea God Island remains its heart, while the broader institution includes an outer courtyard and the Martial Soul Department. 28

Shrek’s public standing is immense: it is called the continent’s number-one soul master academy, and it has won nearly every Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Duel Tournament championship over the past thousand years. Admissions and Training

Major Events

Holy Spirit Cult invasion

The Holy Spirit Cult attacked Shrek City with Class 8 and Class 9 fixed-installation soul cannons, targeting Sea God Island and the outer courtyard. Mu En used the Golden Tree’s power to shield the inner island, but the outer courtyard’s teaching and research buildings were devastated, causing heavy casualties. 23 24

Teachers, upperclassmen, elders, and the Shrek Inspection Corps mobilized to protect students and confront the invading evil soul masters. Ye Ming, Gu Yuena, and Wang Qiuer killed Rank 91 Ming Lei Douluo through their three-in-one martial soul fusion skill during the battle. 24 25 26

Following the attack, Shrek entered first-level alert, investigated suspected cooperation between Illustrious Virtue Hall and the Holy Spirit Cult, and rebuilt its damaged facilities. Its influence helped spur a continent-wide campaign against the Holy Spirit Cult alongside the three great empires. 27 30

Reorganization of the Shrek Seven Monsters

Heavy losses among the prior generation—including Xixi’s crippled cultivation, Yao Haoxuan’s death, and Ma Xiaotao’s disappearance—forced the academy to prepare a new generation of Shrek Seven Monsters. 27 30

Mu En left Sea God Island despite knowing the effort would hasten his death, personally entering battle against the Holy Spirit Cult. He killed Abomination Douluo, Myriad Souls Douluo, and Nightmare Douluo, while forcing Zhongli Wu to flee. 43 44

Before dying, Mu En entrusted Ye Ming with protecting Shrek Academy should they ever become enemies. His death left the academy without the deterrence of Dragon God Douluo and intensified outside attempts to undermine its prestige. 44 57

Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Duel Tournament

Shrek entered the tournament as defending champions. Its competitors were housed in the Star Emperor Hotel’s top-floor rooms, provided by the Star Luo royal family. 45 46

Xuan Zi assigned Ye Ming to lead lineup arrangements, with Dai Yueheng supporting him. Shrek’s seven-member main team—including Ye Ming, Gu Yuena, Di Ruiqiu, Dai Yueheng, Ling Luochan, Gongyang Mo, and Chen Zifeng—defeated Tianling Advanced Soul Master Academy in the opening match. 46 47 48
