Uchiha Xuan Yu befriended Gaara, gained more tailed-beast Chakra, and killed Sarutobi attackers while concealing the truth from Konoha. His campaign against the Sarutobi Clan escalated until Konoha lured him into an ambush, where he appeared trapped by earthen walls.

• Uchiha Xuan Yu befriended Gaara, entered his Spiritual World, absorbed some of Shukaku’s Chakra, and promised they would meet again.
• Sarutobi Masayashi ambushed Xuanyu’s caravan, but Xuanyu awakened his Fourth Tomoe, killed Masayashi and his Jonin, and used genjutsu to hide the attack.
• Back in Konoha, Xuanyu absorbed more of Kurama’s Chakra and began secretly targeting Sarutobi Clan members on missions.
• Xuanyu killed Sarutobi Aimu’s party and other Sarutobi squads, sparing some survivors and leaving Konoha unable to identify him.
• Xuanyu ambushed teams across the region, killing dozens of Sarutobi and allied clan ninja as Kakashi and other Konoha forces pursued false trails.
• Sarutobi Hiruzen organized elite teams as bait, while Uchiha Fugaku objected to surveillance of the Uchiha Clan and Xuanyu reported killing five more Sarutobi Jonin.
• Xuanyu slipped out of Konoha and sent Shadow Clones after two teams while he pursued Hyuga Hiashi’s group.
• Hiashi’s team raised earthen walls around Xuanyu, and Sarutobi Hiruzen led more than a dozen Elite Jonin toward the apparent trap.

Xuan Yu memorized the Sealing Scroll, advanced his research and training, and watched the Uchiha coup crisis move toward violence. After Danzō attacked Shisui and Itachi believed him dead, Xuan Yu rescued him, and Shisui chose to live for himself and his family.

• Xuan Yu fought Kakashi and the Sarutobi Clan with shadow clones, then persuaded Kakashi to let him view the Sealing Scroll in exchange for information about Obito.
• Xuan Yu memorized the Sealing Scroll’s techniques and focused on the Flying Thunder God Technique, while Hashirama, Hanayu, and later Neji underwent Cellular Potion treatments.
• Fugaku organized the Uchiha coup despite Hanjō’s warning, and Itachi and Shisui told Hiruzen and Danzō that the clan planned to act within seven days.
• Shisui proposed using his Mangekyo to change Fugaku’s mind, but Hiruzen privately ordered Danzō to kill Shisui and destroy the Uchiha Clan.
• Danzō attacked Shisui, stole his right eye, and poisoned him, but Shisui escaped with his remaining eye and fought off Root with Susanoo.
• Itachi rescued Shisui and took him to a cliff, where Shisui gave him his remaining eye and a blood-written will before falling into the waterfall.
• Xuan Yu used the Flying Thunder God Technique and a water whirlwind to save Shisui, then hid him in a cave and treated his injuries.
• Shisui told Xuan Yu he wanted to live for himself and his family, and Xuan Yu explained that he had rescued him with the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Xuanyu rescued Shisui, prepared against Konoha’s growing threat to the Uchiha, and took Zhong Kui under his protection. Itachi agreed to help Hiruzen and Danzo destroy the clan, while Xuanyu made plans to shelter its members as the massacre drew near.

• Xuanyu rescued the wounded Shisui, and Danzo reported his presumed death and Itachi’s awakened Mangekyō Sharingan to Hiruzen.
• Fugaku announced Shisui’s death to the Uchiha and delayed the coup, while Xuanyu arranged treatment for Shisui and began teaching him the Flying Thunder God Technique.
• Xuanyu found Neji near death after a fight with Main House disciples and enlisted Owuya Bai to research the Caged Bird curse.
• Xuanyu exposed the clan heirs who had beaten Zhong Kui, secured Zhong Kui’s release from the Ninja School, and recruited him to the Uchiha Merchant Guild.
• Xuanyu studied Zhong Kui’s Gravity Domain and began training with it, while Hiruzen and Danzo moved toward eliminating the Uchiha.
• Itachi agreed to carry out the massacre in exchange for Sasuke’s safety and recruited a masked man who called himself Tobi or Madara.
• Xuanyu warned the Uchiha that an attack was imminent, arranged for families to shelter at the hospital, and asked Shisui to defend them.
• Danzo deployed 120 ninja around the Uchiha Clan, and Hiruzen allowed him to target Xuanyu while forbidding harm to Sasuke.

As Itachi and Obito began the Uchiha massacre, Xuan Yu fought to stop them while Root attacked the clan from within Konoha. The Uchiha rallied against Root, but Xuan Yu and Itachi remained locked in battle as Second Pillar arrived at the devastated clan grounds.

• Might Guy asked Rock Lee to become his disciple, while Xuan Yu returned to school and secretly warned Uchiha Xia to prepare for that night.
• Itachi told Fugaku that the Third Hokage had ordered him to destroy the Uchiha Clan, then killed Fugaku and Mikoto before continuing the massacre with Obito.
• Itachi and Obito attacked the Uchiha Police Force, but Xuan Yu arrived with Uchiha Xia and Uchiha Fuling and intervened before Itachi could kill Izumi.
• Xuan Yu fought Itachi and Obito, breaking free of Tsukuyomi and using his abilities to challenge Itachi’s Susanoo as Hiruzen ordered Danzō to begin Root’s assault.
• Root attacked the Uchiha Hospital, the Merchant Guild’s Military Police Force, and the clan grounds, while Hashirama and Might Guy fought the hospital team and the Uchiha defeated 03’s force.
• Xuan Yu protected Xing Xing from Itachi’s Susanoo and awakened his Fifth Tomoe, while Uchiha Xia and Uchiha Fuling led the Uchiha counterattack against Root.
• Xuan Yu consumed Itachi’s Amaterasu, rescued the burning Xing Xing, and continued fighting Itachi as the massacre devastated the clan grounds.
• After school, Xuan Yu’s Shadow Clone followed Second Pillar to the Uchiha grounds, where Second Pillar saw the blood-soaked Police Headquarters and ruins and dropped his schoolbag in shock.
