Uchiha Xuan Yu proposed gathering the Shinobi World’s ninja in Peace City, while Konoha’s coup and the defeat of Sarutobi Hiruzen’s forces alarmed the other villages. Xuan Yu then traveled to Mount Myōboku to train his companions, where the Great Toad Sage foresaw him leading the Shinobi World against the Otsutsuki.

• Uchiha Xuan Yu announced plans to build Peace City and bring all ninja together, while leaders from the other lands offered help and then departed with Peace Tokens.
• Uchiha Hanjō became Hokage, and Konoha tried and punished members of the Sarutobi and Shimura Clans as Sarutobi Hiruzen discussed reviving allies with Tobirama Senju.
• Black Zetsu told the Akatsuki about Xuan Yu’s power and the fall of Hiruzen, while Konoha’s ANBU reported the coup and its battles to Kumogakure.
• Raikage Ai and other village leaders reviewed the battle memories, accepted Peace Tokens from Xuan Yu, and met in the tokens’ Mental Space to discuss his demand to build a city and gather ninja there.
• Xuan Yu left Konoha for Mount Myōboku with Deidara, Jugo, Naruto, and others, while Sakura began training with Tsunade and Sasuke asked Orochimaru to teach him Sage Mode.
• At Mount Myōboku, Toad Maru said Xuan Yu’s arrival had made his prophecies uncertain, then revealed a vision of Xuan Yu leading the Shinobi World against the Otsutsuki.
• The Great Toad Sage agreed to have Fukasaku and Shima teach Xuan Yu’s companions Sage Mode, and told Jiraiya that the Otsutsuki’s return was inevitable.

While the Mount Myōboku group trained to sense Natural Energy, Akatsuki attacked Sunagakure to capture Gaara and Shukaku. Shisui and his reinforcements drove the attackers off, but Obito escaped with Shukaku, leaving Gaara alive but weakened.

• The Great Toad told Jiraiya that Uchiha Xuan Yu surpassed his senses and kept growing through constant absorption of Natural Energy, while Fukasaku taught Hua Yu, Hinata, Neji, Jugo, Naruto, and the others how to sense it.
• Hua Yu and Jugo began absorbing Natural Energy, and Xuanyu stabilized Hua Yu when she took in too much, while the group gradually learned Sage Mode and struggled with Mount Myōboku’s food.
• The Deva Path led Tobi, Sasori, Kakuzu, and the Yamanaka Brothers to Sunagakure, where Rasa, Gaara, and the village defenders fought to protect Shukaku.
• Rasa’s attacks failed to stop the Yamanaka Brothers, Kakuzu, and Sasori, while Gaara used Six Paths Power in his sand and urged Rasa to call Konoha for aid.
• Rasa contacted Konoha through the Peace Token, and Shisui gathered Kimimaro, Zhong Kui, Chen Xi, Himure Yuki, and Toyama to reinforce Sunagakure.
• Obito stabbed Gaara, placed Shukaku under genjutsu, and began extracting the One-Tail, but Shisui and the reinforcements arrived and forced the attackers to retreat after Obito returned Gaara to Rasa and Temari.
• Chen Xi nearly killed Yamanaka Batsu with her linked-injury ritual, but Obito ended it by pulling the ritual’s formation into another space, then escaped with Kakuzu, Sasori, and the Yamanaka Brothers.
• Shisui chose not to pursue the Deva Path after Akatsuki escaped with Shukaku, and Chiyo confirmed that Gaara was weak but would survive as Shisui offered to take him to Konoha for treatment.
