A thunderous boom echoed, jolting Bai Jing awake from his "slumber."
Bai Jing instinctively tried to rub his eyes, only to realize his hands seemed to be gone. Before he could even process this, a massive surge of memories flooded into the depths of his consciousness.
His earliest memories were of being an ordinary student who graduated from a bottom-tier 211 agricultural college. After graduation, he landed a stable job at the local agricultural bureau. He had worked diligently for five years and was on the verge of a promotion when he died young at the age of 30 in a mudslide while returning from guiding villagers on mushroom cultivation in the mountains.
After Bai Jing died, he felt his soul being protected by something, drifting along endlessly.
He did not know how much time had passed when he found himself in a strange place. There, he witnessed a giant wielding a massive axe, slaughtering a crowd of monsters that had besieged him.
Then, the giant swung his axe once more at the chaotic world.
At that moment, Bai Jing felt something calling to him. By the time he regained his senses, he was already beside the giant—or more accurately, he had landed upon a lotus seed resting on a lotus pedestal.
The giant glanced at Bai Jing but ignored him, continuing to swing his axe to split the heavens and the earth.
Bai Jing's soul slowly merged with the lotus seed. At the same time, he witnessed the giant creating a brand-new world and sacrificing himself to evolve it. The lotus pedestal that had previously protected him disintegrated during the giant's act of creation.
As the pedestal fell apart, it injected its final sliver of origin into the lotus seed where Bai Jing resided.
The giant witnessed this scene and, as if remembering something, summoned a ball of light. The light flew off with Bai Jing's lotus seed, and then Bai Jing lost consciousness once again.
Bai Jing's soul was too weak and required a long period to gradually evolve and grow stronger.
While his soul slowly strengthened, the world outside underwent earth-shattering changes.
Living beings took form one after another, and the lingering wills of the monsters slaughtered by the giant transformed into ferocious beasts, wreaking havoc upon the world.
Eventually, the Dragon-Phoenix-Qilin Tribes and numerous great beings joined forces to suppress these beasts.
But soon, the Dragon-Phoenix-Qilin Tribes turned on each other due to a struggle over destiny, destroying the heavens and earth and creating boundless karmic debt, eventually withdrawing from this realm.
Later, several individuals fought fiercely on the Western lands, and the ultimate victor attained sainthood this very day.
The sound that had just awakened Bai Jing was a magnificent Daoist chant emitted by that victor.
This chant resonated throughout the entire world; whether they were top-tier Daluo experts or lowly Celestial immortals, everyone heard it clearly.
It was as if the sound had originated from within their own hearts.
As the chant rang out, purple clouds surged from the east, heavenly flowers rained down, golden lotuses sprouted from the earth, and endless golden rain fell, containing boundless holy power to nourish all living things.
High above in the sky, an old Daoist holding a horsetail whisk appeared out of thin air. For a moment, everyone could see him, but in the next second, he seemed to vanish, making it impossible to see him clearly.
Time passed, and with a terrifying pressure spreading outward, the old Daoist spoke: "I am Hongjun. Today I have attained sainthood. Sensing the Heavenly Dao, I wish to give back to the Primordial World. Three thousand years from now, I shall preach at Zixiao Palace beyond the heavens. All those with affinity may come to listen."
After speaking, the old Daoist vanished as if he had never appeared at all.
At this moment, hearing the old Daoist's voice, Bai Jing was completely stunned.
That old Daoist was Hongjun? Then, didn't the scenes in his memories represent Pangu slaughtering the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods and then creating the world?
This meant this was the Primordial World! He had transmigrated to the Primordial World!
The thing that had protected his soul was the Chaos Green Lotus, one of the supreme treasures of chaos. His soul had merged with one of its seeds; in a sense, he was a child of the Chaos Green Lotus.
Thinking of this, Bai Jing's first reaction was to confirm which seed he was.
Before the creation of the world, the Chaos Green Lotus was a supreme treasure that nurtured the great god Pangu and five lotus seeds.
One mature seed transformed into the Twenty-Fourth-Grade Creation Green Lotus, but because it lacked the merit of creation, it was not tolerated by the world and shattered. It just so happened that the Three Pure Ones were passing by; Taiqing obtained a flat-handled whisk made from the red flower, Yuqing obtained a ruyi made from the white lotus root, and the Saint Shangqing obtained a precious sword made from the green lotus leaf. The saying that the Three Pure Ones were originally one family originated from this.
The remaining four seeds, being immature, transformed into the Twelfth-Grade Merit Golden Lotus, the Twelfth-Grade Karmic Fire Red Lotus, the Twelfth-Grade World-Destroying Black Lotus, and the Twelfth-Grade World-Purifying White Lotus.
Bai Jing looked around and found that the place where he resided was filled with drifting spiritual energy that had turned into mist. In the distance, high mountains stretched for thousands of miles, winding and rugged. Cranes danced, spiritual deer ran, and large eagles spread their wings and shrieked—it was like a fairyland on earth.
Hongjun had already attained sainthood, so the Creation Green Lotus was likely already destined to become the magic treasures of the Three Pure Ones. The Merit Golden Lotus was now in Hongjun's hands, the World-Destroying Black Lotus had gone missing after Luohu's defeat, and the Karmic Fire Red Lotus was in the hands of the Daoist Minghe in the Blood Sea. The only one without an owner was the World-Purifying White Lotus, which had never appeared.
So, was he a white lotus flower now?
Thinking of this, Bai Jing breathed a sigh of relief—at least he didn't have to worry about being refined into a magic treasure. But soon, his heart tightened again.
In the Primordial World novels he had read in his past life, the Twelfth-Grade World-Purifying White Lotus was located on the Three Immortal Islands.
The Three Immortal Islands were originally fragments of chaos that had fallen into the Primordial World. They drifted aimlessly above the East Sea, capable of concealing heavenly secrets and remaining outside the Heavenly Dao.
After the second sermon at Zixiao Palace, the Penglai Immortal Island among the three would lose its ability to hide itself due to the wear and tear of its innate restrictions and would be discovered by the great beings of the Primordial World.
After the great beings of the Primordial World ransacked it, they left Penglai Immortal Island.
Later, Dongwang Gong occupied Penglai Island, moved his dojo from the Purple Manor to Penglai, and established the Immortal Court.
As for the remaining two islands, Yingzhou Island had never appeared, while Fangzhang Island was said to have been occupied by the Daoist Yangmei.
Bai Jing pondered and felt that the place he was in was very likely Yingzhou Island.
If he were on Fangzhang Island, Yangmei would have refined him into a magic treasure long ago. If he were on Penglai Island, the many great beings who came to ransack it later could not have missed him. Therefore, the place he was in was most likely the never-before-seen Yingzhou Island, which meant he was safe for the time being.
Next, what Bai Jing needed to do was to take human form as soon as possible. Only by taking human form could he completely avoid the fate of being refined into a magic treasure.
Fortunately, after so many years of nourishment, Bai Jing's soul had grown strong, and he was only one step away from taking human form.
Moreover, with Bai Jing consciously absorbing spiritual energy to strengthen himself, the efficiency was much faster than absorbing it unconsciously.
Just like that, by the time of the first sermon at Zixiao Palace, Bai Jing finally took human form.
