Peter was so envious of Hayato's ability that he practically drooled.

But it was all pointless.

The subway soon crossed the strait and entered Queens.

Through the windows, they could see the Queensboro Bridge spanning New York's East River and Roosevelt Island, linking Manhattan and Queens.

The Queensboro Bridge was a cantilever bridge built in 1909. It had a long history and was still in use today.

The subway stopped at a station, and five young men boarded the adjacent car. They were dressed in hip-hop style, with thick chains around their necks. Once aboard, they loudly bragged about their "great achievements" as if no one else were there.

Clearly, they were members of some gang.

Before long, all the passengers in that car had moved to other cars, leaving only Hayato, Peter, and a Black homeless man sleeping across the seats.

The five young men became even more smug.

One of them walked over to the homeless man and viciously kicked the seat.

"Hey, you dead piece of trash *&%! This is a public place. You're taking up so many seats by yourself. This isn't your home. If you want to sleep, get the hell back to Africa, where you came from. We don't welcome filthy Black %#@ like you here."

The foul language and blatant racism made both Hayato and Peter frown.

The homeless man looked to be around sixty, though his actual age might have been younger. Life on the streets was hard, after all, and it made people look old.

The bang startled the elderly homeless man awake. He sat up with a terrified expression.

Another young man grabbed the old man's knit cap and laughed.
