Background / History

Uchiha Yū was born during Konoha Year 34 and was declared stillborn before taking a final breath. He suffered from a severe skin disease, lived wrapped in bandages, and was shunned as the “Living Monster.” His parents died in war, while his clan treated his retention of the Uchiha name as charity rather than belonging. 1 5

His body contained uranium and continuously emitted radiation, isolating him from classmates and forcing him to live in a remote home. Though considered physically incapable of becoming a ninja, he defeated two one-tomoe Uchiha while injured and confined to a wheelchair, drawing the attention of both the Uchiha leadership and Konoha's higher-ups. 3 4 5

Tsunade's treatment restored his body within seven days. The recovery also awakened his Sharingan and exposed the abnormal nature of his physiology: prolonged radioactive exposure had made him no longer fully human. 12

Yū was initially almost entirely concealed by dense bandages due to his diseased, reportedly rotting skin. After recovering, he was revealed to be strikingly handsome; as he matured, his sharper features gave him a cold and arrogant air. 1 6 40

Yū began as numb, detached, and skeptical of Konoha's Will of Fire; he saw little value in ideals that could not alleviate his pain or isolation. He is exceptionally calculating and long-sighted.
