Geography

Tea Country is a small, long and narrow peninsula nation, roughly one-sixth the size of the Land of Fire. It borders the Land of Fire to the north and the Land of Moon to the south, while sea lies to its east and west. 14 24

History

Seizure of the Daimyo

Tea Country initially lacked a ninja village and possessed very few ninja. Its nobles relied on small samurai and guard forces for protection, while serious threats were commonly outsourced to Konoha through paid missions. 11 14

Uchiha Feng selected the country as a refuge and political base after leaving Konoha. He and the reanimated Uchiha Mikio infiltrated the Daimyo Palace, where Mikio placed the Tea Country daimyo under genjutsu. 11 12 Using the public identity Sekito, Feng was granted noble status and appointed captain of the Samurai Corps and Protector of the Capital. Ministers and generals who contested the appointment were killed, removing the existing shogun and much of the military leadership. 12

Succession Crisis

Feng became engaged to the daimyo's third daughter, Aiko Hamuro, whose low status and lack of political education made her easier for him to direct. 17 He then used the controlled daimyo to depose the established Crown Prince and appoint the fifth son as heir, creating a conflict between rival court factions. 17

After the resulting coup and internal bloodshed, nearly all of the daimyo's children except his three married daughters were eliminated. Aiko, the only remaining eligible heir in the capital, was named daimyo, while Feng was formally entrusted with her guardianship and the capital's security. 23

Consolidation

Feng purged officials associated with the former administration, confiscating, exiling, or executing those judged disloyal. He filled the government with loyal subordinates, while Sada Hidemasa became Left Minister and captain of the Guard Corps. 23 24

Unrest outside the capital was suppressed by Tea Country Guard Corps units supported by hired Konoha ninja. Feng also sent lavish gifts to the Land of Fire to preserve Tea Country's submissive public posture and prevent scrutiny of the regime change. Three months later, the country was considered stabilized. 24

Dispute with Konoha

Konoha's investigation into Feng's identity was reframed by Tea Country as an attempt to investigate or harm its daimyo. The accusation contributed to wider diplomatic pressure against Konoha and prevented further open investigations into Sekito. 28

Konoha eventually issued a formal apology, delivered bodies presented as the responsible infiltrators, and supplied the White Fang Swordsmanship inheritance. It later added Great Swordsman Jūbei's notes in exchange for Tea Country issuing a statement that helped end the dispute. 31

Tea Country's administration became the model for Feng's later territories. Its policies included compulsory education for children, full-time support for soldiers and samurai, and extensive bridge and road construction. 99

Feng ordered the daimyo's private treasury to support these programs and required the same policies to be extended to Southern Red State Island, Rainbow Country, and Moon Country. 99

The Samurai Corps was taught to channel chakra into blades to improve sharpness and attack range. 27 Feng later distributed adapted swordsmanship teachings under the names Advanced Short Swordsmanship and Sword Saint's Long-and-Short Dual-Wielding Swordsmanship. 31

Internal Security

Caihua, whose Mind's Eye of the Kagura can sense malice and detect lies, was appointed head of an inspection team. Her duties included investigating corruption, uncovering spies, and purging disloyal officials throughout Tea Country. 109

• Maritime trade — When land trade through the Land of Fire was obstructed, Feng shifted Tea Country toward sea-based commerce, exploiting its extensive coastline and Degarashi Port. 63
