History

Wood Release first manifests after Chenshu Senju receives Basic Wood Release Mastery from the draw system. Its initial recorded combat use is Thorn Binding, which forces Kakashi Hatake to take the Team 7 survival exercise seriously and reveals that a Senju descendant has awakened the long-unseen bloodline limit 1 3.

After Sage Body Fragment fusion improves Chenshu's chakra and vitality, Basic Wood Release control advances into Wood Release Mastery. Chenshu gains the ability to precisely shape wood rather than merely accelerate plant growth, immediately developing the defensive Wood Locking Wall and the independent Wood Clone Jutsu 6.

The ability rapidly becomes the foundation of Chenshu's fighting style. It defeats Zabuza Momochi, destroys Haku's Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals, overwhelms cursed-mark users, and establishes Chenshu as a target of Root, Orochimaru, and later Akatsuki 7 14 24 42.

By the Pain assault on Konoha, Wood Release has developed into sage-art-scale constructs. Chenshu's initial True Several Thousand Hands destroys the threat of Planetary Devastation and saves the village 74 75.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Chenshu further expands Wood Release into battlefield-wide annihilation and suppression techniques. Sage-enhanced forests eliminate thousands of White Zetsu, while Flower Tree World Emergence incapacitates the reanimated Second Tsuchikage and Second Mizukage through poisonous pollen before Chenshu seals them 111 114.

The technique reaches its peak during the battle against Obito and the Ten-Tails. A Sage Art Wood Dragon damages the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and the fully fused True Several Thousand Hands manifests at a scale greater than the statue itself, catches six Tailed Beast Balls, and returns them to Obito. Its Top Transformed Buddha variation subsequently pummels the Ten-Tails until its own Tailed Beast Ball detonates inside its mouth 118 119 121 122.

After the war, Chenshu also applies Wood Release to reconstruction, raising the new Senju Estate as a complete, lavish clan compound rather than using the bloodline solely for combat 140.
