Background / History

Obito was once known to Kakashi Hatake as Uchiha Obito. Kakashi believed him to have died at Kannabi Bridge after being crushed beneath a boulder and inheriting Obito’s Sharingan. When his identity is exposed, Obito rejects that past outright, insisting that “Uchiha Obito died long ago.” 102

By the time of his first documented appearance, Obito operates as a masked Akatsuki mastermind. He monitors Chenshu Senju after Chenshu defeats Akatsuki members, judging Wood Release and Kamui to be a serious danger to the Eye of the Moon Plan. 70 77

His composure deteriorates as Chenshu repeatedly disrupts his plans and exposes the vulnerabilities of Kamui. Obito’s attachment to Rin Nohara remains a decisive emotional weakness; mention of her enrages him, and her memory later creates the lapse that allows Chenshu to strike him down. 89 123

Appearance

Obito initially conceals himself beneath Akatsuki clothing and an orange spiral mask with a single eyehole. After Chenshu shatters the mask, the right side of his face is revealed to be heavily scarred and disfigured. 77 102

Obito is secretive, manipulative, and theatrical. He uses the identity of Madara Uchiha to intimidate the Five Kage, frames the Eye of the Moon Plan as a path to peace, and declares war while demanding Naruto Uzumaki’s surrender. 100 101

He is also intensely prideful. Chenshu’s ability to read Kamui’s weaknesses and repeatedly overpower him provokes escalating shock, rage, and desperation. When his plans collapse, Obito abandons caution and forcibly revives the incomplete Ten-Tails rather than retreat. 88 120

Despite claiming to have discarded his former self, Obito remains emotionally vulnerable over Rin. His reaction to her name is hysterical, and a fleeting memory of her directly compromises him during battle. 89 123

Defeat and Madara’s Revival
