Background / History

Huang Fei personally traveled to Holy Soul Village after Spirit Hall learned that Lu Mingfei possessed the Black Dragon King martial soul and innate level 20 soul power. She evaluated his physique, mental stability, and martial soul before identifying herself as the deputy commander of the Inspection Corps. By Bibi Dong's order, she became fully responsible for his cultivation. 4 5

At Spirit Hall's beginner training camp, Huang Fei established Lu Mingfei's priorities bluntly: survive the camp, cultivate, and become strong enough to stand before Bibi Dong as an equal. 8 When Bibi Dong ordered Lu Mingfei's first soul ring to be acquired in Dragon Valley, Huang Fei escorted him there incognito and acted as his guide through the dragon-beast hunting ground. 16 20

Huang Fei rejected several potentially useful soul rings because she considered their bloodline, age, and compatibility beneath the Black Dragon King's potential. She ultimately selected the millennium-old Taotie Divine Bull because its diluted divine-dragon bloodline could nourish and transform Lu Mingfei's martial soul, then incapacitated it with a single controlled soul skill. 23 29 31

While in Dragon Valley, Huang Fei was poisoned by Dugu Bo after criticizing the Jade Phosphor Snake. Though injured, she endured the punishment without pleading and continued the hunt after Lu Mingfei concealed his immunity by pretending to suffer alongside her. 27 28

When a beast tide erupted from the valley's depths, Huang Fei used her martial soul to evacuate with Lu Mingfei. Later, she confronted the hundred-thousand-year Taotie alone to prevent it from reaching him. Huang Fei refused to lose consciousness until Lu Mingfei had disappeared into the valley on Taotie's back. Dugu Bo spared her after learning that Spirit Kite Douluo Huang Lingyuan was her aunt. After awakening in Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan territory, Huang Fei tried to seek Lu Mingfei despite her injuries; Shen Yuji instead transported her back to Spirit City, where she reported the Dragon Valley incident to Bibi Dong. 42 67 72
