Background / History

Ao Yi gained consciousness inside his dragon egg more than 230 years before his tenth birthday after hatching. During three daily hours of “Egg Movement,” Dragon Clan teachers instructed him in etiquette, poetry, music, and immortal arts. 40

As the Second Prince of the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace, Ao Yi rejected the Dragon Clan’s prideful isolation and sought to learn the Dao from a Saint’s sect. His clan imprisoned and tortured him for this wish, but he ultimately accepted an apprenticeship under Great Immortal Wuyun and joined the Jie Teachings. 47 48

On Golden Ao Island, Wuyun Xian transmitted immortal techniques to him in dreams and granted him two Spirit Treasures, though the master gave him little further guidance. Ao Yi concluded that the Dragon Clan’s future required its descendants to enter Saint sects; he sought fame as a Jie Teachings disciple and Dragon Palace prince to persuade his kin to lower their pride. 71

After reaching the Primordial Immortal Realm, Ao Yi returns to seek a rematch. He is trapped by Lesser Qiong Peak’s formations, then loses a direct spar after Li Changshou uses Earth Evasion, talisman arrays, and repeated ambushes.
