After several hours of riding at full speed, they returned to the castle. There was no sign of the Centaurs; it seemed they had not reached this place yet.
Once inside the castle, Marcus hurried off to learn the situation from the other nobles. After learning that The Bald Man was unharmed, Harrot headed straight for the elves' rooms.
Thankfully, none of the elves had been injured. Tiona said with an annoyed expression, "Why retreat when we could have fought? It was only a pseudo-Legendary. Was there any need to be so afraid?" She looked furious.
Harrot finally relaxed. Marcus called him over and explained what had happened. The Centaurs who had attacked them were led by the Centaur Commander who had escaped from the previous battlefield.
Although the Thunder Tribe had been defeated, there were still many medium-sized Centaur tribes with several hundred members. The Centaurs had noticed the large-scale withdrawal of the human soldiers.
During the human army's campaign to purge the Centaurs, they had been observed from afar by the Centaur Commander. As a Legendary Expert, his strength far surpassed that of the humans.
The Centaur Commander had delightedly discovered that there were no Legendary Experts left in the human army. Even the formidable Giant Dwarf from before was gone.
Marquis Prague had returned to treat his injuries, while Grand Duke Lance, the dwarf troops, and the Archmage had all departed after completing their agreed-upon tasks.
Half the nobles had returned home to recuperate. This was the Pioneering Alliance's weakest moment, and the Centaurs had seized it!
...Half a day earlier
The Bald Man led Marcus's soldiers alongside the main force as they cleared Centaurs in the eastern direction. Strangely, they traveled for a long time without seeing even the shadow of a Centaur.
