After a full day of exhilarating study, evening finally arrived.
Jia Xiu put away his research proposal and checked the time. Ram and Mia should be here soon.
Sure enough, less than two minutes later, a pair whose height difference was no longer so pronounced appeared in the library.
Their appearances had been designed by Jia Xiu, but the contrast with their usual looks was so stark that even he was taken aback for a moment before recognizing them.
Mia now looked dazed and somewhat dull-witted. Her short hair was a little greasy and stuck to her scalp. She wore no makeup at all, her look as plain as could be. Her eyes were unfocused because of her nearsightedness, and her skin was in poor condition, covered in quite a few pimples.
She looked exactly like the quiet sort of child who would never cause trouble.
It wasn't good to judge people by stereotypes, but Mia's current appearance was exactly the kind of student Jia Xiu would have felt comfortable copying from during a school exam, even if she picked E for a multiple-choice question.
Ram, meanwhile, looked like a completely forgettable passerby. He had no outstanding features whatsoever, and it was hard to find anything distinctive about him to remember. That would make it convenient for him to pass himself off as an inconspicuous janitor and eavesdrop on intelligence wherever he went.
They went to a quiet, deserted spot.
"How did it go? Find anything on the first day?"
"Nothing special," Mia said first. "Most of the Demonfolk students in our class are devils. We can't tell yet which ones might be other participants in disguise."
"That's normal."
The so-called Demonfolk, also known as Evil Spirits, were actually a broad category, not a single species but many. The two
