Background / History

Sun Haoran enrolled in Senior Class One of Spirit Hall Advanced Academy, where he trained among the academy's selected geniuses. During the class's first practical-combat tournament, he drew Han Bing and considered the pairing fortunate because Han Bing appeared to be a low-level support-type Soul Master. He even asked whether Han Bing should receive the longer time limit normally given to control-type fighters, prompting Teacher Gao Lan to reprimand him. 8

His first duel against Han Bing ended decisively. Sun Haoran used both of his spirit skills, but every attack passed through Han Bing's ice-mist elementalization. After three minutes without landing a hit, he conceded and acknowledged that underestimating an opponent had been his greatest mistake. 9

He later warned Yan that Han Bing could not be struck normally, though Yan dismissed the warning. In the subsequent two-on-two match, Sun Haoran teamed with Liu Mingyue against Han Bing and Hu Liena, again expecting Han Bing's Candy Spirit to be easy to overcome. Han Bing shattered Sun Haoran's hands with an Armament Haki-coated punch, forcing him to surrender. 10 12 13

Despite his defeats, Sun Haoran became one of the academy students who continued training alongside Han Bing. He participated in the Soto Soul Fighting Arena special training and later reached level 40, joining the class's spirit-ring hunt in the Star Dou Forest. 20 25

Personality

Sun Haoran is initially arrogant and prone to judging opponents by their visible soul-power rank and martial-soul category. He repeatedly assumes that Han Bing's support-type Candy Spirit makes him vulnerable, only to be defeated without being able to respond effectively. 8 9 12 13

His losses make him more wary of Han Bing's strength. He sincerely warns Yan, Wu Tian, and Zhang Yuan about Han Bing's abilities, even when they dismiss his concerns as fear. 10 14
