Background & History
Sole survivor of Pill Peak
Ye Lan inherited the position of Fifth Peak Master after a catastrophe destroyed Pill Peak’s previous generation. Her master and fellow disciples had attempted to forcibly refine a third-grade Tribulation Pill during Patriarch Divine Void’s tribulation; the failure ultimately devastated the branch. Though she inherited the title, Ye Lan had no training in alchemy and could not protect Pill Peak’s inheritance alone. 660 693
After the disaster, Daoist Muyang sent Sixth Peak disciples to manage Pill Peak’s alchemical arts and resources. The other peaks tolerated this takeover, while Ye Lan left Void Mountain and traveled through the Divine Land. Her resentment centered less on authority than on preserving her master’s courtyard, statue, and the pill scriptures he had left behind. 659 660 661
Demon-Slaying Bureau service
As a titled general of Jianyang Prefecture’s Demon-Slaying Bureau, Ye Lan was responsible for handling the troubles of officials under her command. She initially considered Shen Yi a newly recruited and manageable demon slayer, intending for him to observe Meng Xiuwen during a joint operation. Shen Yi’s decisiveness and capacity for causing trouble quickly exceeded her expectations. 648
At Crane Mountain, Shen Yi directly asked Ye Lan for help protecting his old allies from Zi Ling. Ye Lan accepted the request as part of her responsibility as a general and later intervened personally when Zi Ling attempted to harm the Vast Marsh group. 653 654
Return to Void Mountain
Following the Crane Mountain incident, Ye Lan offered Shen Yi protection and a legitimate identity within the Three Immortals Sect. She took him into the Fifth Peak in Patriarch Divine Void’s name, formally pledging that they would not abandon one another in life or death. 656 659
Her return revealed that Fifth Peak had been occupied in practice by Sixth Peak. Shen Yi’s pill-refining accomplishments gave Ye Lan the confidence to publicly challenge Daoist Muyang and Liu Ruifeng’s control over Pill Peak. 659 661 663
After Shen Yi refined a flawless Void Origin Treasure Pill, Ye Lan relinquished Pill Peak’s master position to him and transmitted the Void Dao Method, changing their relationship from superior and subordinate to fellow disciples and teacher-student figures. 668
Later conflicts
Patriarch Divine Void later awakened, learned of Shen Yi’s growth, and had Ye Lan restrained as leverage against him. Despite her anger toward those responsible for Pill Peak’s destruction, Ye Lan remained composed and focused on Shen Yi’s survival. 718 719 724
Afterward, Ye Lan continued serving the Divine Dynasty. The Human Emperor entrusted her with a token to enter the Immortal Office and secretly monitor Lin Shuya, reflecting his confidence in her loyalty and judgment. 801
Appearance
Ye Lan is a beautiful woman with a reserved, heroic presence. She is frequently depicted in white robes and carries herself with the composure expected of a titled general and former peak master. 654 801

Personality
Ye Lan is outwardly cold, restrained, and reluctant to expose her emotions. Her calm demeanor conceals lasting grief over Pill Peak’s destruction and the loss of her master and fellow disciples. 660 661
She initially avoided competing for Pill Peak’s resources or authority, believing herself unable to challenge Sixth Peak. Shen Yi’s actions gradually pushed her to confront the injustice done to her branch and reclaim the authority attached to her title. 661 662
Ye Lan is protective of those she accepts as her responsibility. She helps Shen Yi despite recognizing the danger around him, repeatedly supports his cultivation with her own resources, and remains deeply concerned whenever he enters a crisis. 656 693 753
Her sense of duty also extends beyond personal ties. She intervenes on behalf of Vast Marsh’s displaced cultivators, monitors threats to the Divine Dynasty, and continues acting even when her own cultivation is insufficient to resolve a situation alone. 654 801
