Background / History
Bai Ye escaped an experimental laboratory and fled into the northeastern forest outside Konoha. His body bore pursuit wounds, repeated needle marks from blood extraction and drug injections, and a traumatic distrust of anyone seeking his blood. When Senju Chiba located him for a Shikotsumyaku cell sample, Bai Ye immediately assumed Chiba wanted to capture and exploit him like the laboratory personnel had. 21
He initially identified himself as Kaguya Shuo Ya, but later revealed that Shuo Ya was merely the name written on his laboratory tank. During his battle with Chiba, he declared himself Kaguya Byakuya. 21 22
Bai Ye fought Chiba through the night, using bone armor and repeated bone growth to neutralize Chiba's toxins and cut apart his root network. He pushed Chiba to the edge of a cliff and attempted to finish him with an incomplete Bracken Dance-derived bone spear formed from his own spine. 22 23
Chiba's emergency evolution, Wood Release: Skeletal Reinforcement, allowed his vines to develop internal bone-like supports that could pierce Bai Ye's armor and carry poison into his chakra system. Facing paralysis and compromised armor, Bai Ye revealed the black parasitic chakra implanted in his bones by the laboratory. By allowing Chiba's evolved vines to absorb his bone matter, he caused the contamination to enter Chiba's new bone-wood framework. 24
Appearance
Bai Ye is a pale boy whose Shikotsumyaku allows bones to erupt from and reshape his body during combat. He was already visibly injured when Chiba encountered him in the forest. 21
- Fresh blade wounds and clustered needle scars beneath his ribs from laboratory experimentation. 21
- Can pull long, serrated bone weapons directly from his own body. 21 22
- Forms layered white bone armor across his chest, limbs, and joints. 22
- Bears a black mark beneath his collarbone connected to the parasitic chakra implanted in his bones. 24
Personality
Bai Ye is fiercely survival-driven and immediately hostile toward people who show interest in his blood or body. His experience as a laboratory subject has left him convinced that promises of kindness are meaningless, and he responds to perceived exploitation with lethal force. 21
In battle, he is observant, relentless, and willing to damage his own body for an advantage. He recognizes Chiba's dependence on underground water, targets the root system supplying it, and continues forcing bone growth despite blood loss and deteriorating bone density. 22 23
Despite his aggression, he acknowledges opponents who demonstrate real strength. His exchanges with Chiba develop into a brutal contest of adaptation, with both combatants openly assessing the other's limits. 22 23
Abilities & Skills
Shikotsumyaku
Bai Ye possesses the Kaguya clan's bone-manipulation kekkei genkai, allowing him to grow, shape, detach, and control bone structures using chakra. 21 22
- Generates bone spikes, blades, swords, and armor from his shoulders, ribs, elbows, knees, and other parts of his body. 21 22
- Creates a serrated bone sword by pulling a full bone from his shoulder blade. 21
- Grows bone spikes from detached fragments and uses them to attack through the ground. 22 23
- Retains residual chakra in severed bones, allowing them to continue growing after separation from his body. 22
- Rapidly regrows bones after removing or breaking them. 22 24
- Excessive bone production causes blood loss, worsens existing wounds, and reduces the density of newly formed bone. 22 23
Bone Armor Mode
Bai Ye can cover much of his body in interlocking bone plates, shielding his skin from direct attacks and preventing Chiba's poison from reaching his blood through ordinary contact. 22
- Closes exposed wounds beneath layers of bone armor. 22
- Produces blades from armor gaps around his joints to cut attacking vines. 22
- Absorbs chakra entering through damaged armor, initially neutralizing poison spores before they can reach his body. 22
- Is vulnerable to attacks that break through the armor and enter his chakra pathways directly. 24
- Becomes increasingly costly to maintain as his injuries and calcium depletion worsen. 23 24
Bracken Dance (Incomplete)
Bai Ye uses an incomplete form of Bracken Dance by extracting his spine, reshaping it into a large bone spear, and attempting to plant its branching bone structures into a target. 23
- Forms the weapon by pulling vertebrae from the back of his neck. 23
- Condenses the vertebrae into a spearhead with branching bone protrusions. 23
- States that the complete technique requires planting bones into the earth; his version can only “plant” them into one person. 23
Parasitic Chakra
A black parasitic chakra remains embedded within Bai Ye's bones and is connected to a mark beneath his collarbone. It was implanted by the people who experimented on him. 24
- Activates through the collarbone mark and causes uncontrollable flesh growth beneath his bone armor. 24
- Spreads through bone matter absorbed by another person. 24
- Contaminated Chiba's newly evolved Skeletal Reinforcement framework after Chiba absorbed Bai Ye's bones. 24
Relationships
- Senju Chiba — Enemy and fellow experimental-power seeker. Chiba pursues Bai Ye for his Shikotsumyaku sample, while Bai Ye tries to kill him rather than be captured again; their battle forces Chiba's Wood Release to evolve. 21 22 23 24
- Unnamed laboratory captors — Former captors who imprisoned him in a tank, extracted his blood, administered drugs, and implanted the parasitic chakra within his bones. 21 24
