History

Shrek Academy originally operated from a visibly rundown village campus outside Soto City. Its rotted wooden gate and crooked sign gave Tang San and Xiao Wu little confidence in the institution when they arrived to enroll. Despite its appearance, the academy maintained an exceptionally selective admissions standard and openly defined itself as a school for “monsters.” 4

Flender founded and led the academy, assisted by teachers including Zhao Wuji and Li Yusong. Before Tang San's cohort entered, Zhao Wuji had recruited Su Sanjia, who joined before the age of ten and largely developed his martial soul and cultivation methods independently. Su Sanjia's growth broke the academy's records and made him its youngest prospective graduate. 9 23

The academy's teachers hoped to make Shrek famous and place its students on the continent's greatest Soul Master stage. Su Sanjia remembered this ambition when considering graduation and promised to help the academy achieve it. 27

After Qin Ming's intervention, Shrek planned to leave its village grounds for Heaven Dou City. Flender later announced that Blue Tyrant Academy would be renamed Shrek Academy, with the Shrek students representing the renamed institution in the Continental Elite Soul Master Tournament. 37 45

The renamed academy gained considerable influence after Zhao Wuji became a Soul Douluo. Noble investments increased, and the institution became financially secure. Its stature later grew further after Flender also reached the Soul Douluo rank and Poison Douluo Dugu Bo joined as an honorary teacher. 53 56 149

• Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan — The clan connected Yu Yuanzhen's disappearance and death to Shrek Academy, repeatedly confronted the academy, and later demanded the return of three inherited soul bones from Su Sanjia. 80 91

Shrek Academy's reputation was initially built on its harsh admissions policy and unusually gifted students. Su Sanjia's emergence as the continent's youngest Soul Emperor made the academy a focus of attention for major factions, many of which suspected it possessed an unknown powerful protector. 4 80

Its championship victory transformed its public standing. By the later period, its campus and student body had expanded vastly beyond the Blue Tyrant Academy era, while Su Sanjia's achievements had become an academy legend discussed by its students. 175
