Background / History
The Seven-Colored Deer originated in Shennongjia, where it served as guardian beast of the sealed Shennong Ruler. Formed from yin, yang, and the Five Elements, it possessed an innate divine power that resisted yin-yang influence and kept the Five Elements at a distance. With the Shennong Ruler and Shennongjia’s geographical advantage, it could rival half an Earth Immortal Realm cultivator. It was also known as a benevolent beast that aided nearby commoners and was revered as a divine incarnation. 175
Its lineage continues through a generational inheritance: when a successor matures, the previous Seven-Colored Deer transfers its power and memories before dying. Yu Chen initially encountered the immature successor, then recognized the consciousness guiding him as that of the previous generation. 176 After Yu Chen gained insights into yin-yang and Five Elements through the lineage, the successor rapidly neared maturity and the prior generation prepared for death. 177
When Yu Chen departed the Divine Weapon World, the Seven-Colored Deer chose to accompany him into the main world. Its former roles had become untenable: the True Dragon Spirit had taken its place as guardian of the Shennong Ruler, while the advancing world could not accommodate a single spirit holding both yin-yang and Five Elements authority. 247
Appearance
The Seven-Colored Deer is a nimble, moon-white deer with a sacred, youthful appearance. It can alter its size, at times shrinking small enough to rest in Yu Chen’s arms. 175 619
- Moon-white fur with a faint jade-like texture. 926
- Seven-colored plum-blossom markings that emit hazy rosy light. 175 926
- Slender limbs and large, dark, limpid eyes. 175
- Immense developing antlers that sparkle with stardust or radiate Five Elements light. 175 508
- A wheel of five-colored radiance can appear behind its head as its power increases. 609
Personality
The Seven-Colored Deer is fundamentally benevolent, curious, and emotionally transparent. It initially struggles with abstract human language despite being able to communicate mentally, and its frank reactions often make it seem innocent or childlike. 175 It is deeply attached to Yu Chen, seeks his praise and attention, and is openly jealous when other disciples receive too much of it. 508 525 557
Though naturally talented and perceptive, it is flighty and often reluctant to study systematically. Yu Chen repeatedly pushes it to develop its knowledge of spiritual plants, medicinal arts, runes, geomancy, and star observation rather than relying only on innate gifts. 510 558 638 It nevertheless becomes earnest when entrusted with responsibility, particularly after learning how much Yu Chen has done for its future path. 577
It values remaining a deer rather than taking human form, reasoning that its natural body is better suited to cultivating yin-yang and the Five Elements—and that becoming human could jeopardize its role as Yu Chen’s mount. 927

Five Elements Grand Escape and Five-Colored Divine Light
