At that moment, thunderous rumbling came from the pond behind Jiraiya. A mass of water was blasted skyward as a colossal creature burst from the surface. The force of its emergence swept out with the water, washing Ebisu clean out of sight.

"Ahhh! What a huge toad!" Naruto stared in utter shock. Where had he ever seen a scene like this? A single entrance had blown away a jonin.

"You rude little brat!" Gamabunta snorted around the pipe in his mouth. "Jiraiya, are you sure you found the right person? This kid looks like a total weakling."

"There's no mistake." Jiraiya set down his fishing rod, and the line binding Naruto immediately loosened.

"Kid. Want me to teach you a few moves?"

"Can you really do that?" Naruto did not shrink back. This giant toad clearly had a close relationship with Jiraiya, so just how strong was this man?

"Before we start, we need to undo the seal!" Jiraiya placed a hand against Naruto's stomach. As a stream of chakra entered him, the Five Elements Seal Technique on Naruto was undone with ease.

Naruto only felt the chakra inside his body flow much more smoothly. Then he dropped to his knees in a perfect slide. "Master, please accept your disciple, Naruto Uzumaki..."

"Stop!" Jiraiya waved him off. "I never said I'd take you as my student. Whether you can earn my approval is another matter! Go play in the water with Bunta." With that, Jiraiya got up, went to the small wooden cabin nearby, and began eating peanuts by the door.

A rustling sound came from below his feet. Sasuke Uchiha, looking thoroughly bedraggled, was climbing the peak beneath the blazing sun.

"How many times has it been?" Kakashi's eyes never left Icha Icha Paradise.

"The... twenty-second time!" Sasuke remained as sparing with words as ever.

CRACK!

Kakashi suddenly stomped his foot! The rock Sasuke was gripping instantly shattered, and Sasuke fell once more.

"Again!!"

Ever since they had left Konoha Hospital last night, Kakashi had brought Sasuke here.

There was only one thing to do here: climb the mountain. Every time Sasuke was about to reach the summit, Kakashi kicked him back down.

Kakashi gave no explanation, and Sasuke did not ask.
