Background / History

Alice was raised entirely within Dr. Zhuang's underground base and had never seen the sky, ocean, mountains, or any other part of the outside world. She eagerly listened when Zhou Bai described his memories of pre-apocalypse Earth. 5

Unlike many of the children, Alice doubted the base's account of the apocalypse. She secretly revealed a hidden collection of educational books to Zhou Bai and showed him a disturbing diary page she had found concealed in her bed frame. 7 8

Her suspicions centered on the fifth basement level and Bandu's sudden personality change after he entered it. Alice and Bandu had spent months cutting through the ventilation-grate route to the laboratory, but the grate was repaired after Bandu returned altered and unable to remember their investigation. 8

Appearance

Alice is a black-haired girl who appears to be around twelve or thirteen years old. Food scarcity in the base left her noticeably undernourished; when Zhou Bai carried her through the ventilation duct, he could feel her ribs against his back. 5 8 9

Alice also cares deeply for the other children, especially Bandu. During the base attack, her standing among the group helps Zhou Bai calm and lead the frightened children. 14 15

Fifth basement investigation

Alice brings Zhou Bai to the hidden books and diary, then reveals the ventilation route she and Bandu had used to investigate the laboratory. Despite being frightened in the dark cafeteria, she accompanies Zhou Bai to Underground Level 5, where they discover the deformed Bandu in a cultivation tank and Christina imprisoned in glass. 7 8 9

Escape attempt

While hiding from Dr. Zhuang in the laboratory, Alice spots and takes the electronic card needed to open the base's main gate. She escapes with Zhou Bai and sees the outside world for the first time, but the polluted Spiritual Machine causes severe chest pain and forces both children to collapse. 10 11

Revelation of the cloning experiments

During the base attack, Alice helps Zhou Bai reassure the children and later rejects Bandu's attempt to take her away, declaring that he is not the real Bandu. She subsequently sees the secret chamber containing numerous child corpses, including bodies identical to herself. 14 15

Alice is first killed by the Snake-shaped Heavenly Demon, but Christina's gemstone rewinds time by five minutes and restores her life temporarily. She is later killed again when the Heavenly Demon massacres the children. 15 16 17
