Background / History

Sasuke survives the Uchiha clan's extermination as one of its last remaining members. After Itachi shows him the massacre through Tsukuyomi, Sasuke awakens a one-tomoe Sharingan, collapses, and dedicates himself to killing Itachi in revenge for his clan and parents. He initially believes that Uchiha Mu, his other older brother, also died during the massacre. 4 5

During the Chunin Exams, Sasuke enters with Naruto and Sakura. He regards Mu with conflicted feelings: one brother is a Konoha traitor, while the other serves Konoha as an ANBU operative. Rather than seek Mu's help, Sasuke turns his uncertainty into a determination to become stronger. 16

Orochimaru exploits Sasuke's desire for revenge and brands him with the Cursed Seal of Heaven. Personality

His determination hardens into isolation. He trains through injury, rejects easy emotional connection, and ultimately chooses Orochimaru's dangerous path because conventional training no longer seems sufficient for his revenge. 33 41 43
