Smelting Town and the Heart Beast Sect

Han Cai first assists Li Mo's early cultivation by explaining Misty Spiritual Energy and warning that his supplies cannot sustain Li Mo through the Childhood Stage. He collects variant spiritual energies from different environments himself. 10

A veteran surgeon with centuries of experience, Han Cai advocates radical bodily replacement. He recommends using bizarre-beast bones to replace Li Mo's spine and identifies organs that could grant effects such as poison immunity. 20 His own body reflects this path: he once possessed eight extendable arms and could form spiritual-energy tools to dissect corpses at extreme speed. 20

He works alongside Hu Wen and Layman Futu at the Green Red Flower House, where he maintains the courtesans' bodies and later handles their corpse transformation. 57 Han Cai is openly proud of Li Mo's medical and artifact-refining talent, regarding him as a seed for the Dao. 79

After recognizing flaws in the Multi-Limb cultivation methods, Han Cai removes several of his own arms, leaving two pairs active while strapping the others to his back. 119 He is badly injured during the Black Wind Ridge events, suffering shattered arms, cracked ribs, and a hole in his skull; he nevertheless stitches himself up and regenerates replacement arms through his techniques. 127

Han Cai participates in Tian Changwen's attempt to gestate the Hundred Beasts Blood Body, seeing mass-produced Acquired Dao Bodies as the Heart Beast Sect's means of overcoming the Golden Core Formation bottleneck. 140 142 His foundation is severely damaged in the aftermath, leaving him scarred, stitched together, and dependent on surgically replaced limbs. 142

Before Li Mo leaves Smelting Town, Han Cai gives him a Bone Scroll containing the incomplete Hundred Beasts Blood Body and asks him to fill in its missing portions if possible. Li Mo rapidly constructs its Dragon Bone framework, giving Han Cai renewed hope for the technique and the sect's future. 142

Port Years

At the port, Han Cai's medical expertise is expected to be central to the planned Medical Halls for organ modification. Li Mo also transmits him a surgical method for filtering waste gas through the lungs. 209

He later practices at Skillful Hands Abode, where even difficult brain surgery on mortal martial artists falls within his work. 316 Though he is initially hesitant about forming a Nascent Soul, Li Mo encourages him and considers supporting his advancement. 335

When corruption threatens tens of thousands of people at Poison Robe Qinghong Workshop, Han Cai urgently tries to stop Li Mo from intervening recklessly; the danger nearly causes the Spider Nascent Soul in his Middle Dantian to riot. 344

Fortune Sect

Han Cai becomes a respected figure in the Fortune Sect as Li Mo's nominal master; his intervention alone is enough to disperse a crowd at the port. 499

When Li Mo prepares to ascend through the Heaven-Piercing Tower, Han Cai declines the offered place. He chooses to remain in the Mortal Realm, assist the Fortune Sect, and spend his life improving the Great Immortal Creation Method. 552 He presents Li Mo with a modified organ based on Li Mo's ideas; although its design resembles a Great Vehicle Stage organ, Han Cai's cultivation limits its final quality. 552

After receiving Li Mo's direct instruction and medical insights, Han Cai's surgical skill advances rapidly. Within half a year, he becomes capable of conducting Void Refining Stage modification surgeries. 552
