Crucible as Spiritual Root

An Artifact Cultivator's Crucible functions as their spiritual root, directly absorbing spiritual energy and reducing the five viscera's importance in cultivation. This makes the early stages less difficult than Beast Cultivation, though the five viscera are still nourished and gradually metallized. 135 143

Dao Bodies and Rank

The Ziqi Sect's Artifact Cultivators are ranked in part by Dao Body quality. Cultivators with Acquired Dao Bodies are described as lower-status members who undertake harsh work such as harvesting flesh limbs; an Innate Dao Body offers much greater standing within the sect. 143

Exceptional Dao Bodies can radically enhance an Artifact Cultivator's prospects. Li Mo's Five Dao Bodies cause other Artifact Cultivators to view him as a future contender for the Ziqi Sect's Inner Sect. 160 174

Abilities & Traits

Flesh-Limb Integration

Artifact Cultivators can use blood-and-flesh Magic Tools known as Flesh-Limb Artifacts. These limbs can parasitize a body seamlessly, but their full power requires Artifact Cultivator spiritual power. 158

• Flesh-Limb Artifacts may replace or supplement limbs with beast-like, metallic, or specialized functions.
• A rogue cultivator requires deep mastery of the Universal Skill to control such artifacts without backlash and foundation damage. 158
• Flesh-Limb Artifacts are repeatedly tested on rogue cultivators, who receive resources and faction support in exchange for accepting the risks. 158
• Li Mo's Beast Head Flesh Limbs demonstrate localized beast transformation and can reach the Fifteenth Refinement. 160

Metal Toxin Adaptation

Metal toxins are lethal to ordinary cultivators, corroding flesh, blood, bones, and even a victim's cultivation foundation. For Artifact Cultivators, however, the same toxins can stimulate wound healing and strengthen techniques. 139

• Artifact Cultivators do not naturally recover from injuries in the usual manner.
• Metal toxins can encourage their recovery, but prolonged exposure remains tied to the destructive Death Sickness. 139 182

Artifact Refinement

Artifact Cultivation does not automatically make one an artifact refiner. Qiongshan, despite being a Nascent Soul Artifact Cultivator, possesses relatively little artifact-refining knowledge or interest. 150

Skilled refiners are nevertheless highly valuable within the Ziqi Sect's economy, especially at the port, where Flesh-Limb Artifacts form an extensive industry chain. 153

Reforging and Organ Modification

Li Mo later develops a reforging process that places the consciousness of deceased Artifact Cultivators into newborn Artifact Embryos. The resulting bodies are especially suited for continued body modification. 490 491

Reforged Artifact Cultivators possess distinctive metallic bodies:

• Roughly two meters tall.
• Metallic skin with visible blood vessels and meridians.
• Spiritual Qi circulation expels heat as smoke from the final segment of the spine behind the skull.
• May lack limbs and move through Spiritual Qi until new limbs are transplanted. 491

Under the Great Immortal Creation Method, Artifact Cultivators can directly transplant limbs of their own realm and freely dismantle or reinstall them. They effectively possess four interchangeable organ slots. 492

Bizarre Crucibles

A Bizarre Crucible is the aberrant form produced when an Artifact Cultivator deteriorates under the Death Sickness. They resemble furnace fires emitting light and heat, provide dense Spiritual Qi to a Daoist Orthodoxy, and are dangerous to approach. 182

• Bizarre Crucibles act as a source of Spiritual Qi much like a Spiritual Vein.
• Their containment requires successive generations of Golden Core and Nascent Soul disciples to reinforce seals. 182
• Phosphorescence from a Bizarre Crucible can dissolve flesh and trigger further transformations in exposed Artifact Cultivators. 191 192

History

The Ziqi Sect developed Artifact Cultivation around the Outer Heavenly Meteorite Crater and the Mother Crucible. The sect's hierarchy treats the Mother Crucible as supreme, divides territory according to it, and uses Artifact Cultivators for duties ranging from cultivation to flesh-limb harvesting. 143

The sect regarded the Heart Beast Sect as a subsidiary breeding ground for Flesh Limbs. Its Artifact Cultivator disciples were sent to harvest limbs from Heart Beast Sect cultivators, treating the task as both training and intimidation. 135 174

At the port, Flesh-Limb Artifacts became a massive commercial system. Rogue cultivators served as buyers, laborers, and test subjects, while the complete Universal Skill spread widely enough that even Artifact Cultivators commonly cultivated it. 153 158

The Inner Sect exposed the system's instability: Artifact Cultivators and Great Mothers engage in mutual slaughter, while the White Bone Pagodas can turn failed candidates into Bizarre Crucibles. 197 214

Li Mo eventually infiltrates and refines the Mother Crucible using cancer cells carrying an Artifact Cultivator aura. The Mother Crucible accepts coexistence rather than resist, allowing him to seize control of the Ziqi Sect's foundational mechanism. 481

Afterward, Li Mo begins mass Reforging and establishes an inheritance built around Artifact and Beast Cultivator modification. This becomes part of the Creation Immortal orthodoxy, which transforms organs into Immortal Bones and resists the Death Sickness. 491 492
