Background / History

The Cave Heaven contains Great Li, Great Zhou, smaller nations, mountains, seas, cities, and vast numbers of native inhabitants. Cultivators from the greater world regard it as a Qi-Less realm whose people are destined to perish once it is exposed to heaven and earth 56.

It is claimed by the Quexing Xi Family. Their True Lord intends to wait until the hidden Cauldron Vessel is claimed, then use the World-Refining Furnace to refine every part of the realm—including its inhabitants, land, plants, water, and dust—into World Essence for Xi Hengsu's Mysterious Golden Grotto 83 130 197.

The Nine-Towers Mysterious Lord bestowed the realm upon the Xi Family. In exchange, the family promised that the complete Cauldron Vessel within it could be contested by the mysterious sects of the Nine-Towers Land. This obligation explains why the True Lord does not immediately refine the realm 252.

Ancestral Mountain reveals that the Cave Heaven contains layered and concealed spaces. Its interior expands into a hidden minor Cave Heaven with enormous peaks, a suspended lake, and a winding river, suggesting connections to other Cave Heavens, secret realms, or the greater world 112 114.

The Credit Peddler identifies Great Sage Luo Yuan as a Great Sage born from the Qi-Less Grotto-Heaven. Her incarnation reshaped Ancestral Mountain, and Chen Lingxi traces the spiritual impetus of its hidden great formation to the mist surrounding her sleeping Long River incarnation 169 185.

Emperor Daye deliberately exposes the Immortal Husk's aura beyond the realm's Void Turbulence barrier, drawing the attention of powerful figures in the Great Xuanzhuo Realm. Numerous outside cultivators subsequently descend through projected incarnations and other methods, turning the realm into a battleground for the Immortal Husk and Cauldron Vessels 195 199 202.

Xiao Yaoguang offers to exchange his own, larger Qi-Less Grotto-Heaven for this realm in an attempt to save Chen Lingxi and accept him as a disciple. The Xi Family refuses even when offered continued control of the realm for thirty years after the Cauldron Vessel and Immortal Husk find owners. The Academy's cultivators infer that the family values additional secrets within it 197 198.

An Immortal Ranking later appears above Weiji Grotto-Heaven, ranking its powerful cultivators and granting spiritual potential to those listed. Emperor Daye initially appears fifth, while Chen Lingxi initially receives forty-ninth place 202.

Chen Lingxi later discovers that the realm is the dao field of Great Sage Luo Yuan. Its four Immortal Pivots circulate spiritual opportunity through the world like a cultivator's Qi Sea and dantian; their shared rhythms lead him to suspect that the Cave Heaven itself is alive 225 243.

During a Total Perception simulation, Chen Lingxi and Emperor Daye activate all four Immortal Pivots, causing Great Sage Luo Yuan's true body to descend as an ancient Long River. This trial reveals that summoning her is not inherently a means of saving the world: her true body devours the Cave Heaven, reducing its landscape to ashes and merging its living beings into the river 249 250 251.

In the actual confrontation, Emperor Daye and Chen Lingxi activate the Pivots as the True Lord begins refining the realm. Great Sage Luo Yuan's arrival extinguishes the World-Refining Furnace's flames, forcing a confrontation with the Xi Family True Lord 263. Their first exchange destroys the Cave Heaven's firmament, exposing Void Turbulence beyond it 264.

The clash injures the Xi Family True Lord. Afterward, Xi Hengsu reasons that the shattered sky will allow increasing amounts of Void Turbulence to enter, eventually destroying the realm. Chen Lingxi survives the crisis and awakens in the Great Xuanzhuo Realm, where he thanks Liu Changle for saving his life 265.

Nature and Geography

• A vast but spiritually depleted Qi-Less Grotto-Heaven, separated from the Great Xuanzhuo Realm by Void Turbulence 56 195.
• Contains Great Li, Great Zhou, dozens of smaller nations, countless islands, deserts, mountains, rivers, and innumerable settlements 56 64.
• Contains numerous Cauldron Vessels, Cauldron Artifact Fragments, Immortal Husks, ancient formations, and other spiritual opportunities 148 195 225.
• Its spiritual energy is vastly inferior to that of the Great Xuanzhuo Realm 265.
• Its spiritual qi is so thin that an ordinary mortal might cultivate for a hundred years without gathering even a wisp. Native cultivators such as Emperor Daye and Chen Lingxi are therefore regarded as extraordinary exceptions 130 219 229.
• Its concealed geography includes ruins above the clouds, deep-sea trenches, volcanic regions, secret realms, and the mist-shrouded Ancestral Mountain 112 225 245.
• Notable regions include Heaven Gate Sea, the Southern Sea, the North Sea, the Northern Snowfield, and the Nanju Twelve Mountains 169 179 199 244 245.
• The Mountains-and-Rivers Grand Formation uses the realm's mountains, rivers, cloud sea, and Immortal Pivots as its framework 234.

Entry and Departure

• Rebirth Pool: Outside Truth-Seekers enter through rebirth. Their sects retain a thread of Natal Essence Qi in the Great World, connected to their divine souls and enabling their eventual reception back through the pool 83 130.
• Native restrictions: Xi Mu's claim that a native can leave through the Rebirth Pool by reaching the Heavenward Third Floor is a deliberate lie. Native cultivation alone does not provide the necessary Natal Essence Qi 83 130.
• External reception: A Dao Foundation cultivator outside the realm can theoretically extend a Dao Platform into it to receive a native, but doing so risks the platform's collapse. The Xi Family's ownership and insistence on preserving flawless World Essence create an additional obstacle 130.
• Projected descent: Powerful outsiders use the Myriad Realms Projection, Guiding Passage Formations, and other mysterious methods to send incarnations into the realm. Guiding Passage Formations can also transport treasures or their projections 153 199 213 237.
• Exceptional arrival: Chu Liaocang reports having fallen into the realm through Void Turbulence after suffering a calamity, then sleeping there for an unknown length of time 192.

Hidden Treasures

The realm's lack of spiritual qi does not reflect the quality of its concealed treasures. Chen Lingxi's perception through the Dragon-Stripping Dao Platform reveals ancient formations and numerous spiritually radiant objects scattered across the world. Some are protected by ancient restrictions that he cannot break even after reaching Dao Foundation 225 226 245.

Immortal Pivots

The four Pivots are hubs of the Cave Heaven's spiritual circulation and each contains a distinct spiritual opportunity 225. When activated together, they manifest as pillars of light and call down Great Sage Luo Yuan's true body, a process first tested in Total Perception and later enacted during the actual refinement crisis 249 263.

Chen Lingxi discovers them after drawing an unfamiliar force from the volcano through the Dragon-Stripping Dao-Transformation One-Qi True Formula. This force is neither spiritual qi nor Dao Origin; upon entering his Consciousness Sea, it allows him to perceive the realm's treasures, concealed formations, and four Pivots. He suspects that not every Cave Heaven possesses such structures 225.

During the actual summoning, Emperor Daye activates the Mountains-and-Rivers Grand Formation and sends a drop of river water into the Volcano Immortal Pivot. The four Pivots illuminate and open a black hole through which the ancient Long River enters the realm 263.

Threat of Refinement

• The Quexing Xi Family's True Lord considers the Cave Heaven's natives and landscape necessary ingredients for flawless World Essence 130 197.
• Removing even a single native would diminish the purity of the resulting World Essence and potentially damage Xi Hengsu's intended Golden Grotto 130 197.
• The intended benefit is to help Xi Hengsu forge the Great Profound Golden Palace three hundred years early 197.
• The Xi Family permits outside sects to send Truth-Seeking cultivators into the realm to seek opportunities, while retaining ultimate ownership of the Cave Heaven itself 198.
• This arrangement fulfills the family's promise to the Nine-Towers Mysterious Lord that the realm's complete Cauldron Vessel would be open to competition among the sects of the Nine-Towers Land 252.
• The World-Refining Furnace is capable of reducing the entire realm to World Essence, a resource valuable enough to serve as a shortcut to the Golden Grotto Realm 83 252.
• The furnace also allows the True Lord to locate and extract any Immortal Husk or Cauldron Vessel still inside the realm during refinement. Zhao Duanxuan's mission is therefore to prevent outsiders from carrying these prizes into the Great Xuanzhuo Realm, rather than necessarily to claim them immediately 252.
• The Dao-Below Academy's attempted exchange fails despite the offer of a larger Qi-Less Grotto-Heaven. Its cultivators suspect that this realm's additional secrets make its potential World Essence especially valuable, but the precise reason for the Xi Family's refusal remains unconfirmed 197 198.
• Total Perception reveals two catastrophic possibilities: awakening Luo Yuan's incarnation fails to prevent the True Lord's refinement, while summoning her true body can result in the Great Sage herself devouring the realm 243 250 251.
• The True Lord begins the final refinement after ordering sects to withdraw their incarnations through the Rebirth Pool, but Great Sage Luo Yuan's descent interrupts the furnace flames 263.
• Although the ensuing confrontation injures the True Lord, it also destroys the realm's sky. Xi Hengsu regards the resulting exposure to Void Turbulence as a separate cause of inevitable eventual destruction 264 265.

• Quexing Xi Family — Claims ownership of the Cave Heaven and intends to refine it into World Essence for Xi Hengsu 130 197.
• Nine-Towers Mysterious Lord — Bestows the Cave Heaven upon the Xi Family on the condition that its complete Cauldron Vessel may be contested by the mysterious sects of the Nine-Towers Land 252.
• Quexing Xi Family True Lord — Wields the World-Refining Furnace and directly moves to erase the realm during the struggle for the complete Cauldron Vessel. He is injured in the confrontation with Great Sage Luo Yuan 263 265.
• Xi Hengsu — The intended beneficiary of the realm's refinement. After its sky is shattered, he concludes that Void Turbulence will eventually destroy it and orders an investigation into Chen Lingxi's possible involvement in Luo Yuan's arrival 197 265.
• Great Sage Luo Yuan — The Cave Heaven is her dao field; its four Immortal Pivots can summon her true body 243 249. She is identified as having been born from the realm, but Total Perception reveals that her true body can also devour it rather than preserve its inhabitants 169 250 251.
• Emperor Daye Ying Xian — A native cultivator who built the Mountains-and-Rivers Grand Formation across the realm and exploits the Volcano Immortal Pivot to cultivate Xiao Changlü's avatar 225 234. He and Chen Lingxi are the only two natives identified as having cultivated from mortal bodies to Dao Foundation, and they cooperate to seek survival between the True Lord and Great Sage 255.
• Chen Lingxi — A native who uncovers the Cave Heaven's deeper structure, discovers its Immortal Pivots, and coordinates their activation with Emperor Daye 225 249. After testing disastrous outcomes through Total Perception, he helps provoke the actual confrontation between Luo Yuan and the True Lord and survives to reach the Great Xuanzhuo Realm 251 263 265.
• Dao-Below Academy / Xiao Yaoguang — Attempts to save Chen Lingxi through an exchange of Cave Heavens, but the Xi Family refuses. The Academy's participation is constrained by the ownership rules established among the powers of the Nine-Towers Land 197 198.
• Liu Changle — An incarnation of Great Sage Luo Yuan associated with the realm's hidden Ancestral Mountain. Chen Lingxi credits Liu Changle with saving his life when he awakens in the Great Xuanzhuo Realm 185 243 265.
