Tuoba Yuer first appears with the Zhuxi delegation at Great Yin Martial Academy. Intrigued by Xu Yan's overwhelming defeat of Yuwen Jing, she demands to know his body-refining method and attacks him when he refuses to disclose it. 68

Their ensuing strength contest ends with Xu Yan restraining her and demanding Origin Meridian Pills as compensation before releasing her. She later personally returns the pills, then orders her followers to watch Xu Yan while forbidding any reckless action against him in Dragon City. 69 70

When her spies are captured, Tuoba Yuer admits that she sent them solely to observe Xu Yan's body-tempering art.
