Background / History
The Mountain-Sea Realm is the cave abode of the ancient Immortal Monarch Mountain-Sea, a realm also called the Immortal Monarch World and described as the place where he attained the Dao. Mountain-Sea was a human who reached the Dao after Taihao Sovereign and was regarded as one of humanity's most renowned primordial achievers. Legends further attribute three thousand cultivation grounds to him. 97 112
Its last known emergence occurred during the Near Ancient era, at least tens of thousands of years before its modern reappearance. During that interval, its spiritual lands, formations, treasures, and ruins accumulated immense primordial power. 98
The realm began manifesting beneath the Earth Abyss after anomalous activity was discovered where the Azure Sea and Nether Sea meet. Hanging Sea City emerged alongside it as the outpost for entry, while cultivators of every race gathered to await the realm's opening. 97
At first, the realm's evolving laws only admitted cultivators at lower stages. As its restrictions weakened, Breath-Exhaling cultivators entered; roughly a year later, the shackles restricting the Spirit Bridge realm began to loosen, drawing a new wave of contenders. 97 98 115
Years later, the Mountain-Sea Realm was fully open enough to attract the backbone and foremost experts of factions across the Four Seas World and beyond. Its upheaval accelerated the collapse of the Four Seas World's barriers, bringing foreign cultivators across the oceans in pursuit of its primordial inheritances. 158 160
Environment
The Mountain-Sea Realm is a miniature heaven and earth within the Immortal Monarch World. It rivals a region of Great Yin in scale, yet is only the human-path cave dwelling of Immortal Monarch Mountain-Sea. 102 103
- Its sky is pale violet and bears twin moons. 160
- Spiritual springs, lakes, mountains, marshes, and earth veins are scattered throughout the realm, with spiritual energy vastly exceeding the cultivation lands of the Four Seas World. 98 109
- Its outer and middle regions are largely wild, desolate, and filled with ancient restrictions, killing formations, native creatures, and meteorfall zones. 103 107 109
- The realm's primordial spiritual power is unusually dense and naturally immaculate, allowing rapid cultivation but also attracting violent competition. 97 98
- Its core region is an ethereal immortal estate protected by an immense runic barrier; the greatest opportunities and fiercest battles are concentrated there. 160 168
Access and Restrictions
The realm is reached through a spatial rift beyond Hanging Sea City, which floats over the Northern Vast Sea beside the Earth Abyss. The city functions as the primary bridgehead for cultivators entering the realm. 97 158 160
At its initial manifestation, the realm's unstable chains of law restricted entry by cultivation level. Aperture-opening and channel-unblocking cultivators could enter before Breath-Exhaling Daoists, while higher realms remained barred until the restrictions gradually relaxed. 97 98
- White Stone Inscription Dao Ground — The entry platform above the Earth Abyss, covered in inscriptions and transportation markings that scatter entrants to different locations in the realm. 97 98
- Hanging Sea City restrictions — A Primordial Script array suppresses spiritual power and restrains fighting within the city, preventing the gathered races from immediately descending into open conflict. 97 160
- Spatial-rift danger — The later entrance is surrounded by chaotic lightning, spatial turbulence, and the Earth Abyss's powerful suction. 160
- Core-region barrier — The immortal estate's core is sealed beneath a transparent barrier inscribed with profound golden runes; combat aftershocks can ripple across it without damaging its foundation. 168
