Background / History
Lu Qing began his cultivation path with an unusually cautious approach. When an ominous divination warned that leaving the Dao Academy could lead to danger, he refused missions and remained on the mountain rather than risk an unknown trap. By the time he reached Foundation Establishment, he had already developed martial, spell, and sword-fighting experience, though he considered his combat record limited compared with his formation practice 10 28 87.
He served as the resident cultivator of Spirit Terrace County after Chen Sheng’s departure. There, he established Cloud Mist and Spirit Gathering Formations on Spirit Terrace Mountain, accepted the Dao Academy’s allotted share of local resources, and explicitly declined to involve himself in the county clans’ power struggles 38 42.
Formation study became central to his path. Lu Qing passed Elder Liu’s Formation Academy tests, beginning with the Ghost-Wailing Killing Formation, and later gained practical insight from several killing and restriction formations. Elder Liu’s teaching that formations embody “change” shaped Lu Qing’s own formation Dao and his development of the Heaven-and-Earth Severing Formation as protection for breakthroughs 86 87 156.
After cultivating on Spirit Leaf Island and undertaking Sha Qi-clearing missions, Lu Qing entered a Void Realm examination that temporarily suppressed him to the first layer of Qi Nourishing. He remained composed, adapted to the unfamiliar conditions, and later departed the island after reclaiming its formations 83 105 218.
As a Golden Core cultivator, Lu Qing entered the Sword Lineage and became Li Luoyang’s disciple. He continued to combine formation study, sword Dao, fortune observation, artifact refinement, and cultivation of time and reincarnation. His rise to Mingxu, Dongzhen, and eventually Dao Lord drew growing attention from the Profound Heaven Dao Sect, ancient beings, and the sect’s supreme treasures 310 380 521 1005.
Appearance
Lu Qing is usually seen as a youthful cultivator with an understated but unmistakably uncommon bearing. Even when dressed as an ordinary scholar or concealing his cultivation, his aura tends to set him apart from mortals 196 450.
- Often adopts restrained or deliberately ordinary clothing while travelling under an alias 123 199.
- Appeared in Confucian-scholar attire while travelling through the Void Realm 196.
- Maintains incarnations with distinct demeanors, including a more indifferent youthful incarnation and an older incarnation handling Dao Sect affairs 404 591.
- Can assume the identity of an elderly cultivator within reincarnation trials without concern for the change in appearance 899.
Personality
Lu Qing is defined by caution, restraint, and a preference for steady progress over dramatic confrontation. He avoids factional struggles, dangerous entanglements, and unnecessary fame; his ideal is to cultivate peacefully while retaining enough strength and preparation to survive unforeseen threats 38 42 101 651.
He is neither passive nor cowardly. When threatened, he responds decisively—whether by killing demonic cultivators, severing karmic threats, or preparing formations for an enemy’s intrusion. His reluctance to fight comes from calculation rather than inability or fear 87 125 627.
Lu Qing is also observant and intellectually curious. He studies formations, strange tales, antiquity, fortune, artifact refinement, reincarnation, and the workings of time without allowing any single Dao to dominate his heart. He values instruction from trustworthy seniors but remains wary of anyone claiming authority over the Great Dao 156 308 460 461.

Spatial Arts
Lu Qing possesses an embryonic spatial ability related to Sleeve Cosmos.
- Comprehended a trace of the spatial divine power known as Sleeve Cosmos after three days of cultivation 208.
- Can temporarily contain objects or living creatures in his sleeve, though he considers it only a storage-in-sleeve spell rather than true Sleeve Cosmos 208 218.
- Later became capable of personally setting teleportation arrays and understanding spatial passages 392.
Time and Reincarnation
Lu Qing’s later cultivation is deeply connected to the Long River of Time and the Dao of Reincarnation.
- Merged his Dao resonance with the River of Time during his second Dongzhen step, witnessing countless destinies and heavenly secrets 561.
- Possesses substantial authority over reincarnation and has comprehended life and death as natural transformations within the Dao 809.
- Uses time-based insight to examine ancient eras while deliberately avoiding changes to established history 755 809.
- Can survey past, present, and future lives, but generally chooses observation and preparation over direct interference 1004.
Artifact Refinement
Lu Qing can forge artifacts and comprehend the Artifact Dao.
- Used the White Rainbow artifact fire of his inner world to forge a longsword 461.
