History

Flame crisis and decline

More than a century before Su Chen’s arrival, the Bronze Church was arguably the foremost of the Five Great Churches. It possessed four contemporaneous Morning Star Rank experts and was said to faintly lead the other churches. 229

Its Flame then extinguished for half a year without a known explanation. The resulting panic prompted widespread speculation that the church was collapsing, and the later emergence of Dark Sun Time became a defining abnormality unique to the Bronze Church. 229

During Dark Sun Time, the church’s golden-white sun fades through dark red to iron gray, leaving only a coal-like halo and bringing an unnatural cold. The Flame’s alternation between Blazing Sun and Dark Sun persisted for roughly a hundred years. 229 302

The Flame crisis weakened the church’s standing. By the period before its recovery, outside assessments placed it among the weaker Five Great Churches, while the Bronze Ancient King’s attention was largely tied to suppressing the Flame’s problem. 287

Recovery and renewed prominence

The church developed an effective means of purifying at least weak portions of Mist Ember from its Flame, alarming Weird Gods such as Black Tuo. 287

The Bronze Ancient King’s public return during the Peak Star Assembly eased internal anxiety and forced rival factions to reassess the church’s apparent weakness. 301 The Flame crisis subsequently improved enough that the Bronze Flame was declared rekindled following the Royal Court’s failed attack. 396

Su Chen’s rapid rise within the church also became a major factor in its resurgence. Within a little over a year of joining, he rose from fourth rank to sixth rank and reached second place on the Saint Ranking. 305

Entry into Soaring Heavens

When Boundless Buddha threatened to destroy the church and seize its Flame, Su Chen used a jade token to summon the Soaring Heavens Dao Lord. The Dao Lord declared the church part of Soaring Heavens, making an attack on its members an attack on Soaring Heavens itself. 434

The Bronze Church became Bronze Heaven, Soaring Heavens’ Ninth Heaven. This protection forced Boundless Buddha to withdraw and left the church intact while the Royal Court, Sacred Cauldron Church, and True Martial Church lost their Flames. 435 436

The church later traveled through the Heaven Gate to Soaring Heavens, where Tang Huai, Heaven Lord of Upper Firmament Heaven, formally received Bronze Heaven on the Dao Lord’s orders. 444

Separation and reestablishment

After Su Chen became Hao Ri’s Chosen, Bronze Heaven’s separation from Soaring Heavens proceeded under an agreement established by the Five Pillars. The separation was politically unavoidable, but it gave the Bronze Church an opportunity to develop without being gradually absorbed by Soaring Heavens. 532

Soaring Heavens provided a Heaven Gate, resources, and a new site near Meteorfall Mountain for the relocation. 536 Upon reestablishment, the Bronze Church gained the support of four Moon Radiances, greatly increasing its influence in the Abyssless Domain. 537 538

Rise as a Pillar

The Bronze Ancient King, Yuan Shuo, later advanced to Hao Ri as the Primordial Scarlet Meteor Mountain Lord. His power is earthbound: he can wield Hao Ri might within the area protected by the Bronze Church’s headquarters and Meteorfall Mountain. 631 632

Afterward, Yuan Shuo demanded unity from the church’s members, offering those with lingering reservations the chance to leave. The remaining followers were expected to belong to the Bronze Church alone rather than to their former sects. 632

By the aftermath of the Buddha Land’s failed assault and the Bronze Ancient King’s advancement, the Bronze Church was widely treated as a sixth Pillar rather than a temporary or weak faction. 646

Copper Heart

Copper Heart was the original core of the Bronze Church: a metal landmass floating above three heavily developed satellite stars. Its center was the Bronze Tower, while the cities below served as subsidiary settlements. 226
