History

Flame crisis and decline

More than a century before Su Chen’s arrival, the Bronze Church was arguably the foremost of the Five Great Churches. It possessed four contemporaneous Morning Star Rank experts and was said to faintly lead the other churches. 229

Its Flame then extinguished for half a year without a known explanation. The resulting panic prompted widespread speculation that the church was collapsing, and the later emergence of Dark Sun Time became a defining abnormality unique to the Bronze Church. 229

During Dark Sun Time, the church’s golden-white sun fades through dark red to iron gray, leaving only a coal-like halo and bringing an unnatural cold. The Flame’s alternation between Blazing Sun and Dark Sun persisted for roughly a hundred years. 229 302

The Flame crisis weakened the church’s standing. By the period before its recovery, outside assessments placed it among the weaker Five Great Churches, while the Bronze Ancient King’s attention was largely tied to suppressing the Flame’s problem. 287

Recovery and renewed prominence

The church developed an effective means of purifying at least weak portions of Mist Ember from its Flame, alarming Weird Gods such as Black Tuo. 287

The Bronze Ancient King’s public return during the Peak Star Assembly eased internal anxiety and forced rival factions to reassess the church’s apparent weakness. 301 The Flame crisis subsequently improved enough that the Bronze Flame was declared rekindled following the Royal Court’s failed attack. 396

Su Chen’s rapid rise within the church also became a major factor in its resurgence. Within a little over a year of joining, he rose from fourth rank to sixth rank and reached second place on the Saint Ranking. 305

Entry into Soaring Heavens

When Boundless Buddha threatened to destroy the church and seize its Flame, Su Chen used a jade token to summon the Soaring Heavens Dao Lord. The Dao Lord declared the church part of Soaring Heavens, making an attack on its members an attack on Soaring Heavens itself. 434

The Bronze Church became Bronze Heaven, Soaring Heavens’ Ninth Heaven. This protection forced Boundless Buddha to withdraw and left the church intact while the Royal Court, Sacred Cauldron Church, and True Martial Church lost their Flames. 435 436

The church later traveled through the Heaven Gate to Soaring Heavens, where Tang Huai, Heaven Lord of Upper Firmament Heaven, formally received Bronze Heaven on the Dao Lord’s orders. 444

Separation and reestablishment

After Su Chen became Hao Ri’s Chosen, Bronze Heaven’s separation from Soaring Heavens proceeded under an agreement established by the Five Pillars. The separation was politically unavoidable, but it gave the Bronze Church an opportunity to develop without being gradually absorbed by Soaring Heavens. 532

Soaring Heavens provided a Heaven Gate, resources, and a new site near Meteorfall Mountain for the relocation. 536 Upon reestablishment, the Bronze Church gained the support of four Moon Radiances, greatly increasing its influence in the Abyssless Domain. 537 538

Rise as a Pillar

The Bronze Ancient King, Yuan Shuo, later advanced to Hao Ri as the Primordial Scarlet Meteor Mountain Lord. His power is earthbound: he can wield Hao Ri might within the area protected by the Bronze Church’s headquarters and Meteorfall Mountain. 631 632

Afterward, Yuan Shuo demanded unity from the church’s members, offering those with lingering reservations the chance to leave. The remaining followers were expected to belong to the Bronze Church alone rather than to their former sects. 632

By the aftermath of the Buddha Land’s failed assault and the Bronze Ancient King’s advancement, the Bronze Church was widely treated as a sixth Pillar rather than a temporary or weak faction. 646

Headquarters and Territory

Copper Heart

Copper Heart was the original core of the Bronze Church: a metal landmass floating above three heavily developed satellite stars. Its center was the Bronze Tower, while the cities below served as subsidiary settlements. 226

  • The headquarters contained sophisticated training rooms capable of simulating varied environments and scanning users for flaws in their training methods. 230
  • Its starport and surrounding core territory were guarded by recalled Bronze Church Army troops during major gatherings. 313
  • The Nether Tower allowed access to the section of the Nether Domain controlled by the church. 238

Meteorfall Mountain and First Star

After its separation from Soaring Heavens, the church’s center shifted to Meteorfall Mountain in the Abyssless Domain. 536 654

  • Meteorfall Mountain — A resource-rich forbidden region that became the church’s strategic foundation and the effective range of the Primordial Mountain Lord’s Hao Ri power. 536 632
  • First Star — The former main base of the church, now suspended above the other planets in its new territory. 654
  • Orbital planets — Roughly a dozen life-bearing worlds circle Meteorfall Mountain; all but First Star were originally barren planets drawn in and prepared for development by the Primordial Mountain Lord. 654
  • Heaven Gate — Connects the church’s territory with Soaring Heavens and enabled near-instant travel between the Dust Star Sea and Soaring Heavens. 444 536

Organization and Leadership

Position / Figure Role
Bronze Ancient King Yuan Shuo Founder-like pillar of the church, its central authority, and later the Hao Ri known as the Primordial Scarlet Meteor Mountain Lord 437 631 632

Chu Lingyuan Senior administrator who handled major church affairs during Yuan Shuo’s absence and helped oversee the transition into Bronze Heaven 282 435 537
Su Chen Yuan Shuo’s student, former Star Seed, Hao Ri’s Chosen, and a decisive figure in the church’s survival, separation, and later expansion 305 435 537 632
Qin Yun Former Venerable whose authority to manage church affairs was revoked by the Bronze Ancient King. 282

Facilities and Operations

Creation Copper Heart

The Creation Copper Heart is a major church asset used for profession development, challenge rankings, and specialized professional requirements. 230 274 282

  • Its challenge system can recreate classholders’ abilities with enough accuracy to reduce personal hostility caused by ranking disputes. 274
  • The Holy Hall Ranking distributes resources, including opportunities connected to the Creation Universe, which can assist with profession requirements. 230
  • Its Copper Spirit can facilitate large-scale professional tasks; Su Chen used the Creation Copper Heart to treat patients for his Stigmata Physician requirement. 282

Nether Domain operations

The Bronze Church controls a section of the Nether Domain accessible through its Nether Tower. 238

  • Church personnel mine Nether Stones and seek spirit flames needed by Smelting Holy Professions. 238
  • Dark Sun Time increases the danger posed by Nether Domain creatures and restricts the church’s operations. 238
  • The church’s internal exchange system trades resources through star coins and contribution points, though Weird God’s Power is forbidden and cannot be freely mobilized. 230

Faith Power

The church’s inheritance gives the Bronze Ancient King exceptionally focused Faith Power. Within its territory, the title “Bronze Ancient King” is deeply rooted in the population’s collective awareness, making its Faith Power especially valuable. 448

External Relations

  • Soaring Heavens — Protected the church from Buddha Land, absorbed it as Bronze Heaven, and later supplied a Heaven Gate and resources during its separation. The relationship remained significant after independence. 435 536 631
  • Buddha Land — A hostile power that attempted to seize the church’s Flame, later attacked it with the World-Crossing Dharma Wheel, and continued to view its expansion as a threat. 435 627 646
  • Royal Court — Previously opposed the church during its Flame crisis and launched an unsuccessful assault before the Bronze Flame was rekindled. 396
  • Profound Heaven, Star Vault, and remnants of other Dust Star Sea factions — Their surviving forces were ultimately absorbed into the Bronze Church, though not all members initially accepted the new order. 626 632
  • Xuantian Ancient King — A longtime associate of Yuan Shuo who aided the church’s security efforts and later remained among its major figures. 437 626
  • Weird Gods — Longstanding enemies of the Bronze Church; the church is noted for its experience in preventing, investigating, and suppressing Weird God activity. 287 575

Notable Events

  • The church’s Ancient King Stele recognized Su Chen, causing a massive display of light over the Bronze Tower and disrupting Qin Tianlin’s expected selection. 227 228
  • The Peak Star Assembly was relocated from the Royal Court to the Bronze Church, bringing major factions into its territory during a politically tense period. 277 287
  • The Bronze Flame’s recovery repelled the Royal Court’s attempt to exploit the church’s perceived weakness. 396
  • Su Chen’s invocation of the Soaring Heavens Dao Lord prevented Boundless Buddha from destroying the church and led directly to its transformation into Bronze Heaven. 434 435
  • The Bronze Ancient King’s Hao Ri advancement transformed the church from a vulnerable rising faction into a power capable of resisting the World Honored One within its own territory. 631 632
