Background / History
Bright Sun was concealed within the violet flames extracted from Qin Tianlin’s corpse after Black Pagoda erased Qin Tianlin’s spiritual core. He introduced himself as a conscious remnant of a Bright Sun Rank professional and claimed that his main body had died outside the Dust Star Sea. He admitted that he retained no memories connected to his origin. 320 321
He offered information on the Lost Flame and the Spirit of the Bright Sun, including the nature of True Brilliance-level talents and a proposed method to reduce the danger of entering the Lost Flame. The Bronze Ancient King placed him under joint protection from multiple factions rather than allowing the Bronze Church to guard him alone. 321
Bright Sun had secretly used Fan Zhao as a foundation and fused a strand of Holy Profession power into Qin Tianlin, enabling Qin Tianlin’s rapid rise in the preliminary rankings. Qin Tianlin’s death disrupted this arrangement and exposed Bright Sun’s connection to the Qin family. 323
He subsequently sought Su Chen’s body as a replacement vessel. Bright Sun attempted to tempt Qin Yun with the prospect of Moon Radiance-level power and implied that he could temporarily remove the Ancient Kings from the board, though Qin Yun refused to directly attack Su Chen while the Bronze Ancient King protected him. 323
During the struggle over the Spirit of the Bright Sun, Bright Sun’s claims became increasingly suspect. The Prison-Suppressing King alleged that Bright Sun had deceived explorers by promising a way to bypass the Spirit’s trial, resulting in multiple deaths and the King’s imprisonment. 347
After discovering that an unknown individual had gained recognition from the Spirit of the Bright Sun, Bright Sun destroyed his own illusory shell and used his concealed black power to trace the recognized person. The Spirit retaliated and destroyed much of the attempt; Su Chen’s panel captured part of the invading force as a Fragment of Tai Xu Power. Bright Sun concluded that the recognized individual was likely younger and weaker than expected, possibly originating from the Dust Star Sea. 356
Appearance
Bright Sun most commonly manifests as a cluster of violet or purple flame containing spiritual fragments. 320 327
- His initial outward form was an illusory humanoid shell formed from flame. 356
- Beneath that shell, he possesses an obscure black substance that distorts the surrounding space. 356
- He can communicate through a wisp of Remnant Flame implanted in Qin Yun. 352
Personality
Bright Sun is guarded, manipulative, and highly opportunistic. He reveals only enough information to make himself useful, dismissing questions about his past with “Believe it or not” while withholding key details about the Lost Flame and his own agenda. 321
He treats allies as tools. Qin Tianlin was enhanced as a temporary instrument, Qin Yun was tempted through grief and ambition, and Su Chen was targeted primarily as a desirable replacement body. 323
His confidence is undermined when events contradict his assumptions. The Remnant Spirit’s recognition by the Spirit of the Bright Sun and Su Chen’s hidden recognition both force him to reconsider his understanding of the selection system. 355 356
Abilities & Skills
Remnant Flame Manifestation
Bright Sun exists as a conscious violet-flame remnant and can maintain communication or influence through flame fragments.
- Remained concealed within Qin Tianlin’s corpse until the Bronze Ancient King extracted the violet flames. 320
- Left a wisp of Remnant Flame inside Qin Yun, allowing them to communicate discreetly in the presence of Ancient Kings. 352
- His remnant status allows continued consciousness after the alleged death of his Bright Sun Rank main body. 320 327
Holy Profession Empowerment
Bright Sun can implant or transfer a strand of Holy Profession power into another person.
- Used Fan Zhao as a foundation to fuse Holy Profession power into Qin Tianlin. 323
- The enhancement enabled Qin Tianlin to defeat powerful opponents and rise to second place in the preliminary rankings. 323
- The method did not prevent Qin Tianlin from being killed by Black Pagoda. 323
Lost Flame Knowledge
Bright Sun possesses—or claims to possess—specialized knowledge concerning the Lost Flame and the Spirit of the Bright Sun.
- Identified Divine Radiance as the minimum talent threshold for possible acknowledgment by the Spirit of the Bright Sun. 320
- Introduced the concept of True Brilliance-level talents, describing them as inheritances of traits from Radiant Moon Rank professionals. 321
- Proposed using acknowledged individuals as guides to reduce the Spirit of the Bright Sun’s hostility during entry into the Lost Flame. 321
- His advice is unreliable: the Prison-Suppressing King accused him of deceiving prior explorers with a supposed shortcut around the Spirit’s trial. 347
Black Power and Deduction
Bright Sun conceals a black, spatially distorting power distinct from his violet Remnant Flame.
- Destroyed his illusory shell to expose and deploy this hidden power against the recognition symbol of the Spirit of the Bright Sun. 356
- Attempted to use it to trace the identity and origin of the Spirit’s recognized individual. 356
- The Spirit of the Bright Sun destroyed most of the attempt, while Su Chen obtained a Fragment of Tai Xu Power from the intrusion. 356
Relationships
- Qin Yun — Co-conspirator and prospective ally. Bright Sun enhanced Qin Tianlin, then attempted to recruit Qin Yun by offering the possibility of Moon Radiance-level power. 323
- Qin Tianlin — Temporary vessel and instrument. Bright Sun secretly embedded Holy Profession power in him before Black Pagoda killed him. 323
- Su Chen — Intended replacement vessel. Bright Sun seeks Su Chen’s body and attempted to identify him after the Spirit of the Bright Sun granted him recognition. 323 356
- Spirit of the Bright Sun — Hostile spiritual counterpart. The Spirit rejects Bright Sun’s interference with its recognition process and destroys much of his probing power. 355 356
- Bronze Ancient King — First identified Bright Sun within Qin Tianlin’s corpse; later arranged joint protection over him to prevent factional conflict. 320 321
- Prison-Suppressing King — Accuses Bright Sun of deceiving explorers into a failed attempt to bypass the Spirit of the Bright Sun’s trial. 347
- Black Pagoda — Aware of Bright Sun’s existence and implicated in Qin Tianlin’s death, though Bright Sun’s exact knowledge of Black Pagoda’s motives remains unclear. 323
