Ch. 1961Boredom Breeds Trouble
Plot points and events
- Alvin leaves a clothing shop in a polished new disguise. Women admire him, but Valkyrie mocks his cheap outfit and stinginess.
- Bored and unable to find a place to sit, Alvin wanders town. Valkyrie eventually leaves, recognizing that he mainly wanted company.
- Outside the Viking Bar, Alvin finds Volstagg, Zack, Julie, and a drunken Anton caught up in a scuffle. He breaks it up and hustles Julie and Anton away, with Zack chasing after them.
- Zack mistakes disguised Alvin for a stranger and attacks him. Once Alvin knocks him down, Julie recognizes Alvin and laughs at Zack’s confusion.
- Alvin teases Zack and walks off with Julie, determined to find out why she left her successful business to come to town with Zack and Anton. Julie is delighted to be reunited with him; unseen ninjas guarding her confirm that the handsome man was probably their boss.
Character developments and interactions

- Valkyrie is exasperated by Alvin’s shamelessness and eventually abandons him rather than indulge his need for company.
- Zack is impulsive and jealous: seeing Alvin with Julie, he charges in before recognizing him. His loyalty to Julie is clear, but his judgment is poor.
- Julie is comfortable and affectionate with Alvin, laughing at his teasing and happily walking with him. She also quietly warns Zack that Alvin is trouble.
- Anton remains a hapless, drunken bystander; Volstagg is drawn into the earlier bar fight.
