Background / History

Medusa is the reigning queen of the Snake-People Tribe in the Tagore Desert. The name “Medusa” is a hereditary title tied to the Medusa bloodline: only one bearer may exist in a generation unless the bloodline passes to a successor. Her sister, a former Medusa, fled the tribe rather than fight her and died attempting to evolve through the poisonous Netherworld Venom Flame. 43

Xiao Le discovers her sister’s corpse and lingering remnant soul in the Death-Defying Snake Cavern. In exchange for returning her body to the tribe, the remnant reveals the Netherworld Venom Flame’s location, leaves a Medusa lineage mark on Xiao Le, and seals her final power within him to assist in refining the flame. 42 43

When Xiao Le reaches Medusa Palace, Queen Medusa recognizes the remnants of her sister’s aura and receives the body for burial in the Snake Mausoleum. Though normally stern and aloof, she openly grieves at her sister’s grave before asking Xiao Le to refine pills for the tribe. 62 63

Determined to lead the Snake-People out of the Tagore Desert, Medusa seeks a Heavenly Flame to advance beyond her limits. She and Xiao Le recover the Green Lotus Core Flame from beneath the desert, but she is severely burned protecting him from the flame’s backlash. 64 65
