Hu Liena represented Spirit Hall in the finals of the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. Together with Xie Yue, she formed the Martial Soul Fusion Skill Yaomei to oppose Heaven and Earth One Family Great Love Academy. Although Yaomei initially gained the advantage after defending against the opposing team's opening assault, its enormous expenditure left both users exhausted. Great Love Academy won through its prepared tactics and exploitation of Spirit Hall's weaknesses. 172 173 175

The defeat left Hu Liena determined to become stronger and share Bibi Dong's burdens. Troubled by Spirit Hall's loss and Bibi Dong's anger over Fang Yuan's escape, she entered Slaughter City for harsher training, resolved to eventually surpass Fang Yuan and aid in capturing him. 190 191

In Slaughter City, Hu Liena became known as the Hell Envoy and accumulated dozens of Hell Slaughter Arena victories. She sought guidance from the masked Heaven-Refining Demon Venerable—Fang Yuan under another identity—because she could not control her growing killing intent. After matching Fang Yuan's win count, she entered Hell Road with him. She revealed her real name and Spirit Hall affiliation, then accepted his claimed identity of Liu Guanyi after he concealed his connection to Fang Yuan. Hu Liena repeatedly attempted to recruit Liu Guanyi into Spirit Hall, motivated by both his Soul Tool expertise and her personal attachment to him. When Spirit Hall later encountered Liu Guanyi in the Star Dou Great Forest, Hu Liena recognized his Soul Tools and Divine Slaughter's Domain. Fearing Ghost Leopard Douluo would kill him, she intervened, ordered the elder not to harm him, and discovered that their domains could fuse. Her willingness to protect him, even against Spirit Hall's elders, exposed the depth of her concern. 214 215

Hu Liena is ambitious and highly competitive. Spirit Hall's tournament defeat drives her to seek life-or-death training in Slaughter City rather than remain in ordinary cultivation, and she measures herself against Fang Yuan despite recognizing his extraordinary achievements. 190 191

She is direct when pursuing what she wants, whether demanding guidance in Slaughter City or openly inviting Liu Guanyi into Spirit Hall.
