Background / History

Tang San enrolled at Notting Academy from Holy Soul Village as a work-study student. Before entering the academy, he was intercepted by Fang Yuan, who identified the inconsistency between Blue Silver Grass and Tang San's Innate Full Soul Power, exposing his possession of Twin Martial Souls. Impressed by Fang Yuan's strength and insight, Tang San formally became his disciple and refused Yu Xiaogang's later attempt to recruit him. 1 2 4

His childhood had been marked by poverty and self-reliance: from age four, he cooked for himself and slept on the floor. Fang Yuan gave him a storage soul tool and funds for food and necessities, becoming the first person from whom Tang San felt familial care. 2

Under Fang Yuan's guidance, Tang San developed Blue Silver Grass as a life-focused control Martial Soul rather than treating it as an inherently weak plant. He acquired his first ring in Sunset Forest, underwent Ice-Fire Golden Body Tempering at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, and spent years building an exceptional physique before seeking higher-level rings. 5 12 37

Fang Yuan eventually revealed that the human-and-beast couple from a story he had told were Tang San's parents, Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Tang San accepted that Spirit Hall had become his enemy through its pursuit of his mother, condemned the Clear Sky Sect's abandonment of its affiliated clans, and remained critical of Tang Hao's irresponsibility. 72 107

Tang San later fulfilled his ambition of rebuilding the Tang Sect in this world. He founded it with himself as Sect Master and Fang Yuan as Supreme Elder, establishing its independence from both the Clear Sky Sect and Spirit Hall. 70 71 107 108

Personality

Tang San is disciplined, reserved, and intensely respectful toward the master-disciple bond. He treats “a teacher for a day” as a lifelong paternal relationship, consistently placing Fang Yuan's status above his own and calling him his most important family. 4 12 107

He is cautious with his secrets, declining to display his soul skills to classmates and initially withholding his knowledge of poisons in Sunset Forest. His combat approach is similarly deliberate: he studies opponents, values preparation, and continuously cultivates even while waiting for others. 6 21 34

His reverence for Fang Yuan can become fierce protectiveness. Tang San reacts angrily when Yu Xiaogang, Yu Tianheng, or the Strength Clan's guards disrespect his teacher. 3 88 105

Despite his rigid feudal values, he demonstrates a developed moral judgment. When considering his parents' history, he distinguished self-defense from wrongdoing and criticized both the Clear Sky Sect's cowardice and Tang Hao's failure to take responsibility. 72

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses two Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. Fang Yuan recognized the existence of the second Martial Soul from Tang San's Innate Full Soul Power, while Tai Tan later identified both Martial Souls as proof of Tang San's parentage. 1 107

  • Blue Silver Grass — His primary displayed Martial Soul; cultivated as a control-oriented, life-attribute weapon.
  • Clear Sky Hammer — His second Martial Soul; its existence was concealed during his early academy years. 1 5

Blue Silver Grass

Following life-attribute enhancement and Ice-Fire Golden Body Tempering, Tang San's Blue Silver Grass became blue-green, thick, highly resilient, and capable of functioning as both a restraint and offensive weapon. 5 13

  • Can grow into arm-thick vines and spread throughout a combat area. 28
  • Can bind, entangle, lash, and protect him without requiring a dedicated binding soul skill. 5 66
  • Is immune to ice- and fire-attribute attacks and to all poisons following his body tempering. 13
  • Its life-focused cultivation also increases Tang San's physical toughness and soul-ring endurance. 5 60

Life Amplification

Tang San's first soul skill, obtained from the Green Wine Bamboo. 5

  • Increases Tang San's physical strength.
  • Greatly improves the toughness of Blue Silver Grass.
  • Accelerates the recovery of injuries and Soul Power. 5
  • Can reinforce Blue Silver Grass against opponents strong enough to break ordinary vines. 66

Blue Silver Surge

Tang San's second soul skill, activated through his thousand-year purple soul ring. 66

  • Causes Blue Silver Grass to grow at several times its normal speed.
  • Makes the vines more nimble and grants them vitality comparable to that of animals.
  • Allows portions of the grass to attack autonomously while others protect Tang San. 66

Blue Silver Sharpening

Tang San's third soul skill, derived from the Ten-Thousand-Year Sword Lotus. 67

  • Further increases the strength of Blue Silver Grass.
  • Imbues the vines with the Sword Lotus's sharp aura.
  • Turns restrained targets into vulnerable targets for cutting attacks; the vines can slice into an opponent's body like saw blades. 66 67

Blue Silver Dragon Breath

Tang San's fourth soul skill, gained from a dragon-type soul beast. 155 156

  • Forms a blue-green dragon head from gathered Blue Silver Grass.
  • Fires a dragon breath carrying both ice and fire attributes.
  • Its ice and fire are empowered by dragon aura originating from the two dragon skeletons beneath the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. 155 156

Mysterious Heaven Techniques

Tang San cultivated the Mysterious Heaven Method/Skill from childhood and later presented the wider Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record as the Tang Sect's foundation. 5 65 71

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — An agility technique used to evade the Ten-Thousand-Year Sword Lotus. 61
  • Hidden weapons — Tang San uses concealed weapons and views Blue Silver Grass control as a way to create stationary targets for them. 5
  • Poison knowledge — He recognized Jade Phosphor Snake Poison from the Treasure Record and possesses knowledge of poisons and antidotes. 6 71
  • Hand-to-hand combatFang Yuan's training raised Tang San's unarmed skill beyond that of his previous life; he could repel Dai Mubai with one arm when neither used Martial Souls. 28

Ice-Fire Golden Body Tempering

Tang San consumed the Star Anise Mysterious Ice Grass and Infernal Delicate Apricot before tempering himself in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. 12 13

  • Greatly strengthened his body and Blue Silver Grass.
  • Granted immunity to poison, ice, and fire.
  • Left residual medicinal power within his body for continued cultivation.
  • Allowed him to withstand soul rings far beyond the ordinary limits for his rank. 13 60 65

Eight Spider Lances

Tang San possesses the Eight Spider Lances, an External Soul Bone that can grow alongside its owner. Unlike their original blue-violet form, his lances are vibrant blue-green and filled with life energy. 61 64

  • Manifest as eight sharp spider legs extending from his back.
  • Provided another major enhancement to his constitution before he absorbed his third soul ring. 64
  • Contributed to his ability to endure the Ten-Thousand-Year Sword Lotus's ring. 64 65

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Storage soul tool brooch — Given by Fang Yuan upon enrollment; holds more than ten cubic meters of items and originally contained 200 gold soul coins. 2
  • Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record — A manual containing hidden-weapon methods, martial arts, poison knowledge, antidotes, and cultivation techniques; offered by Tang San as the Tang Sect's foundation. 71
  • Hidden weapons — Tang San uses concealed weapon techniques and can store future creations in his brooch. 2 5
