Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Peak Quasi-Saint 6 Having recovered from his battle with Luo Hou, Hongjun could not calculate Wuchen through Abbot Island's innate formation and resolved to kill him after attaining sainthood.
Heavenly Dao Saint 12 Attained the Dao as the Primordial World's first Sage; his saintly pressure swept across the world, and he announced a Dao sermon at Purple Cloud Palace.

Background / History

Hongjun fought Luo Hou in the devastated western lands. Luo Hou's final transformation and explosion left both combatants vanished from the battlefield, but Hongjun survived and later recovered from severe injuries. His first priority afterward was finding the Godslayer Spear, which he believed could threaten the Saint realm. 1 6

While searching the west, Hongjun encountered Wuchen, whose World-Purifying White Lotus origin could potentially locate the World-Destroying Black Lotus and, by extension, the Godslayer Spear. Wuchen fled into Abbot Island's innate formation; unable to calculate his location, Hongjun identified him as a dangerous “variable” and decided to eliminate him once he attained sainthood. 6

Hongjun later attained the Dao, becoming the first Sage of the Primordial World. He established Purple Cloud Palace in the chaos and announced that he would expound the Dao after three yuanhui. 12

Appearance

At his public attainment of the Dao, Hongjun appeared as an indistinct ethereal figure standing in the void, surrounded by an ancient and boundless aura that surpassed ordinary Dao rhythms. 12

  • His form could not be clearly discerned. 12
  • His arrival was accompanied by purple qi extending three thousand miles. 12
  • His saintly pressure could suppress Great Luo cultivators and terrify entire factions. 12 14

Personality

Hongjun is calculating, controlling, and intensely protective of his long-term plans. He regards Wuchen as an existential variable because the latter repeatedly disrupts events that Hongjun expected to control, including the Witch Clan's retreat toward the Blood Sea. 6 13 14

Though he presents himself as a detached Sage, he readily employs coercion when challenged. He forcibly brought cultivators to Purple Cloud Palace, threatened Nuwa through Fuxi, implanted Primordial Purple Qi into Laozi, Tongtian, and Nuwa, and ordered rival factions to stop fighting each other so they could focus on destroying the Witch Clan. 14 15 20 25

His composure weakens when Wuchen publicly humiliates or threatens him. During their confrontation, Hongjun's anger was exacerbated by Wuchen's ability to purify his rule-based attacks and sever his connection to the Pangu Banner. 16 17 18

Abilities & Skills

Heavenly Dao Saint Authority

As a Heavenly Dao Saint, Hongjun commands overwhelming pressure and rule power capable of suppressing cultivators far below his realm.

  • Released saintly pressure that immobilized and injured members of the Witch Clan. 13 14
  • Forced Laozi, Tongtian, Nuwa, Fuxi, Jieyin, Zhunti, and other cultivators into Purple Cloud Palace. 14 18
  • Halted the war between the Demon Court, Immortal Court, and Minghe's alliance through a command backed by Heavenly Dao authority. 24 25
  • His authority is constrained by Houtu's exceptional merit; he judged that forcing her death could shatter his saintly fruition. 13

Rule Manipulation

Hongjun uses the rules recorded within the Creation Jade Disc to form large-scale offensive techniques.

  • Condensed more than a thousand rules into a gigantic hand seal intended to suppress Wuchen. 16
  • Summoned swords formed from the rules of the five elements, yin and yang, space-time, and life and death. 17
  • Could form long-range hands of rules to attack the Twelve Ancestral Witches. 17
  • Wuchen's Purifying Divine Light can dissolve these rule-based attacks. 16 17 18

Divination and Heavenly-Secret Manipulation

Hongjun can trace targets through origin auras and karmic connections, but Wuchen's nature as a variable obstructs his calculations.

  • Attempted to use Wuchen's exposed origin aura to calculate his location, but failed to see through Abbot Island's innate formation. 6
  • Could not calculate Wuchen's whereabouts even after attaining sainthood, as the heavenly secrets had become disordered. 13
  • Used the Creation Jade Disc and a karmic thread linked to Fuxi in an attempt to break through Wuchen's concealment. 15

Primordial Purple Qi

Hongjun can implant Primordial Purple Qi into another cultivator's Primordial Spirit.

  • Forced Primordial Purple Qi into Laozi, Tongtian, and Nuwa without their consent. 20
  • The qi is presented as both an opportunity for sainthood and a Heavenly Dao shackle that places its bearer under Hongjun's control. 20
  • Wuchen could not remove it without risking the destruction of its hosts' Primordial Spirits. 20 21

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Creation Jade Disc / Creation Jade Disc Fragment — Records a vast number of complete rules and supports Hongjun's rule-based techniques and divination. 15 16
  • Pangu Banner — An innate supreme treasure with heaven-opening power. Hongjun deployed it against Wuchen, but Wuchen purified Hongjun's divine-sense imprint and seized the banner. 17
  • Purple Cloud Palace — His palace in the chaos and the site of his Dao sermons. 12 18

Relationships

  • Wuchen / Dan Yangzi — Primary adversary. Hongjun considers him a variable whose existence obstructs his plans; their conflict escalates into a direct battle in which Hongjun is forced to retreat. 6 16 18
  • Luo Hou — Ancient rival. Hongjun defeated Luo Hou but suffered severe injuries; Luo Hou's remnant consciousness claimed that Hongjun intended to devour the Primordial World's Heavenly Dao. 5 6
  • Houtu — A crucial threat to Hongjun's position. Her merit makes her effectively irreplaceable, preventing Hongjun from simply killing her to force the Witch Clan's compliance. 13
  • The Witch Clan — Targets of Hongjun's plans. He tried to force them back to Mount Buzhou, later declaring that whoever destroyed them could gain an opportunity for sainthood. 13 19 25
  • Laozi, Tongtian, and Nuwa — Cultivators Hongjun forcibly brought to Purple Cloud Palace and later bound with Primordial Purple Qi. 14 18 20
  • Fuxi — Used by Hongjun as leverage against Nuwa; Hongjun stopped Fuxi's attempted self-destruction and refined him, leaving only his Primordial Spirit. 15
  • Three Thousand Guests of Purple Cloud Palace — Audience for Hongjun's sermon and prospective agents in his campaign against the Witch Clan. 18 19
