"Don't laugh. Come give me a hand~"
Vanessa laughed at Sean, but he wasn't embarrassed. So what if his legs were stiff?
Vanessa came over and took the hand Sean held out...
Sean pulled hard... but he didn't get up. Instead, Vanessa fell and landed in his lap.
"Uh~"
Sean's eyes widened. He snapped, "Good thing I reacted fast. If you'd landed on me like that... the consequences would've been unthinkable!"
Vanessa just smiled.
"Get off, get off. You're a man right now!"
"Hmph, how do you know?"
"Uh..." There was a lot to unpack in that, but Sean didn't have the guts to test it.
Vanessa thought teasing Sean was fun, but now wasn't the time.
She stood up and pulled Sean to his feet. They still had to deal with Elektra.
When they returned to the area beside the main stage, two hot girls were spinning around a pole. Sean watched for a moment, impressed.
Pole dancing really was physically demanding. You needed serious strength to hold yourself up there with just one arm.
Bullseye was still in his original seat. He didn't seem interested in the two women onstage; all his attention was on the glass in front of him.
Sean didn't need to make physical contact to use the Black Ledger's gift, but it wasn't completely unrestricted.
He needed some kind of connection first, whether they'd talked or fought. In short, they had to have some contact before he could give them anything.
What he needed now was to get Bullseye talking. Holding his drink, he circled around the stage and went over to him.
"Hi..."
"Get lost!"
Sean had barely opened his mouth before Bullseye shut him down...
"Okay, I'm going. Right away~"
Sean turned and walked off, silently cursing the man.
When he got back to Vanessa, he found her laughing so hard her eyes had disappeared.
"You're happy I got shut down?"
"Cough, cough~"
"Are you laughing or coughing?"
Sean rolled his eyes and casually gave Bullseye the late-stage lung cancer that had belonged to Gwen Stacy's mother.
Bullseye happened to be taking a drink. He immediately spat it out, then touched his chest in disbelief and collapsed.
The nearby staff hurried over to check on the guest.
But it didn't cause much of a commotion. The VIPs didn't seem bothered, probably assuming the man had had too much to drink.
Elektra came out from backstage and glanced at Bullseye lying on the ground. She felt strange.
The man who'd nearly killed her several times had fallen so easily at the hands of Dr. White. Which one of them was supposed to be the assassin?
With Bullseye down, Elektra no longer needed to keep up her act. She gave up the awkward way she'd been walking and headed toward Sean and Vanessa with her usual stride.
"Doesn't he need another stab?"
"Another stab? Not at all. If they get him to a hospital now, he might even hang on for a while. Either way, he won't be able to bother you again."
Sean figured that if late-stage lung cancer with brain metastases still needed a finishing blow, then it was a pretty lousy illness.
"By the way, your debt has gone up by $158,000. Keep that in mind."
Elektra rolled her eyes. She hadn't had much work lately, so how was she supposed to pay him back?
"Got it. You're so annoying."
"Why don't you appreciate it? This debt accrues interest!"
"Oh? Tell me, what kind of interest do you want?"
( ̄□ ̄;)
The woman still didn't get it. It wasn't about what kind of interest he wanted; the Ledger was already calculating it for her!
Still... if she was willing to pay a little extra interest in other ways, Dr. White would be happy to accept.
"How about a dance every day?"
"Dream on!"
"Hehehehe~"
"What are you laughing at?"
"Vanessa will dance for me!"
Elektra's face suddenly flushed bright red. Vanessa's ability was just too much! The thought of Vanessa turning into her and doing something with Sean White...
Elektra felt uncomfortable all over, as if she'd been the one who'd done it.
"Pervert!"
Vanessa just watched the two of them bicker. She was easygoing and wouldn't fuss over such a small thing.
Though it seemed this sort of thing wasn't a big deal to her anyway~
"Let's go~"
While they waited outside for a cab, Sean suddenly asked Elektra, "You're getting ready to fight to the death. What about your blind boyfriend?"
Elektra turned and glared at Sean. "Can't you talk less?"
"Did you think you weren't going to make it and break up with him?"
Sean kept asking nosy questions. He didn't care if Elektra got mad.
Elektra ignored him.
But Vanessa kindly answered for her.
"They broke up ages ago."
"Hm? Then why did you have me treat his eyes?"
"Elektra said she owed Matthew that."
"She sure owed him a lot. $218,000."
Elektra snapped, "Can't you stop making snide remarks?"
"Can't you show a little gratitude to someone who just helped you and might have saved your life?"
Sean wasn't about to let her get away with it. He shot back immediately.
"Heh, I paid him."
"It's on credit."
"..."
Why was he so annoying?!
Yellow cabs were a little scarce in New York at this hour. The three of them waited for a long time without managing to hail one.
"By the way, don't you bring a car when you go out on a job?"
Sean thought waiting around like this was ridiculous. They might as well walk home. What was the point of taking a cab for two kilometers?
"We walked here."
"Then should we walk back?"
"I don't want to walk."
"..."
As they spoke, a cab pulled over. Elektra got in first without hesitation.
Sean followed right behind her, and Vanessa squeezed into the back seat last.
As Vanessa got in, she casually peeled off her little mustache.
"Huh? It was fake?"
Sean picked it up and took a closer look. It really had been stuck on.
No one answered him.
Sean had no shame at all. He reached over and gave Vanessa a quick feel.
Enmmm... same as ever.
"Where to?"
The cab driver wasn't chatty at all. He just asked a simple question.
"Lincoln Center," Vanessa replied.
The car started moving, smooth and steady, but Sean was anything but well-behaved.
He gave Vanessa a thorough inspection, stopping only once he'd confirmed she'd merely changed her body shape.
Elektra curled her lip in disdain at his actions. She couldn't understand how a girl like Vanessa had ended up with such a scoundrel.
Of course she couldn't understand. If she'd never experienced endless stamina, how could she know what it meant?
Besides, Dr. White wasn't bad-looking, and his abilities were top-notch.
It never even crossed Elektra's mind that she was also spending quite a lot of time with Sean.
If she really disliked him, why did she keep meeting him on her own?
Two kilometers... was just too short. Sean felt like they'd only just gotten in, and he'd barely finished inspecting Vanessa when they arrived.
Vanessa handed the driver a ten-dollar bill with Hamilton's portrait on it and didn't ask for change. Sean's heart ached. With the tip, it should've been no more than $7.40. Vanessa sure knew how to waste money.
At that moment, Sean's desire to buy a car grew fierce. Two kilometers cost this much. How much could he save with a car? An unimaginable amount!
But first, he needed to find a debtor who couldn't repay him and make them drive for free. Otherwise, buying a car would be pointless!
The three of them got out and entered the building where Sean lived. Only when they stepped into the elevator did he realize...
Why was Elektra coming home with them too?
Enmmm... was something good about to happen to him?
Tsk~ Why was he getting a little excited?
Sixth floor, apartment six.
The apartment Sean had inherited was spacious, at least two hundred square meters.
The layout was just a little strange: one bedroom inside another, one living room inside another. He couldn't make sense of what the designer had been thinking.
As soon as they entered, Vanessa returned to her normal shape, no longer looking so skinny.
She looked much better like this. A chest ought to have some curves.
"You're sleeping here tonight!"
Vanessa pointed to the sofa in the living room.
ヾ(д)
What was going on?
"Don't we have two bedrooms? Why do I have to sleep on the sofa?"
Sean had completely come back to reality. So much for a race with two cars or a three-person romp. He wasn't even getting a bed tonight!
"Didn't you break the one in the outer room last week?"
Vanessa said, barely moving an eyelid.
"Hehehehe~"
Elektra laughed shamelessly as she walked into the bedroom.
Tsk~ That girl really had no conscience.
Perhaps Vanessa noticed that Sean was feeling down, because she comforted him.
"Be good. Wait for me tonight~"
Then she went into the bedroom too and closed the door.
There was no living like this!
Sean washed up quickly and lay down on the sofa without taking off his clothes, eyes wide open.
The bedroom was full of murmuring, with occasional bursts of laughter.
On top of that, Elektra's lap dance had left him worked up earlier. Dr. White really couldn't calm down.
Time passed so slowly. Sean felt as if he'd endured at least three hours, but the clock had only moved forward thirty minutes.
Gradually, the bedroom fell quiet, until there wasn't a sound.
He could almost hear the steady breathing inside.
Sean started getting restless, hoping Vanessa would hurry out and ease his longing.
But a long time passed without a sound.
Just when Sean was about to give up, the bedroom door opened.
A figure in a bathrobe walked out.
Oh, hehehe~
Sean was instantly excited~
He sprang off the sofa and pounced.
His left arm wrapped around her waist, and he kissed her. His right hand went straight inside her bathrobe~
