Background / History

Elektra sought Sean White's help after he restored Matthew Murdock's eyesight. She incurred a debt of $218,000 for the treatment and was furious to learn that Murdock had received the eyes of two stray dogs, leaving him color-blind. Although she and Murdock had already broken up, she had requested the treatment because she believed she owed him. 5 10

At the time, Elektra was Kingpin's top hired assassin. She moved to eliminate Bullseye after his release from prison, fearing his skill and his attempts on her life. While disguised as a dancer at a nightclub, she accepted Sean's deal to inflict Bullseye with terminal lung cancer and brain metastasis. 9 10

After Kingpin's death, Elektra stated that she no longer needed to work as an assassin and would instead work for Sean to settle her debt. She and Vanessa later established the White Repair Company, initially considering an assassination business before settling on a broader restoration, security, and mercenary model. 59 106 112

Her history with The Hand is more severe than she initially appears to know. Three or four years before its revelation, Elektra died, was revived through the Dragon Bone, implanted with Beast, and hypnotized by The Hand. Personality

Elektra is blunt, combative, and comfortable treating violence as ordinary work. When Vanessa suggested alternatives to assassination, Elektra described her preferred arrangement as taking money, killing the target, and collecting the remaining payment.
