Daoist Wan separated out an incarnation and had it take hold of the Black Mirror. The incarnation then vanished into the void and headed toward Celestial Xia.
Dou Zhen sensed the aura of the chaotic cultivator opposite him approaching. He too split off a wisp of an avatar to meet it and entered the Black Mirror.
He saw the ever-shifting black mist that Daoist Wan had transformed into and said, "Is there more news?"
Daoist Wan said gravely, "I did not come to find you today for that matter."
Dou Zhen looked at him. "Then you are preparing to fight me."
Daoist Wan replied, "There will eventually be a battle between us, but now is not the time. I have already told you of Origin Xia's moves. Celestial Xia must surely have made preparations as well. Origin Xia and Celestial Xia must fight in the end. But you and I are both chaotic cultivators. We ought to be different from the rest and consider our own interests."
Dou Zhen said nothing.
Daoist Wan said, "It seems another chaotic cultivator has appeared on your side?"
Dou Zhen said, "Do you wish to fight her as well?"
Daoist Wan shook his head. "Her path does not accord with mine. Even if I defeated her, it would mean nothing." After a pause, he said, "I hope you can cooperate with me. If Celestial Xia breaks through the Half-Awakened Immortal, do everything in your power to damage Origin Xia's defenses."
If Origin Xia emerged victorious from this battle and its Heavenly Order remained intact afterward, he would have no way to survive. Only if the Heavenly Order remained fractured would it serve his interests. The same was true for those on the other side, so there was a foundation for cooperation between them.
