Bai Lin was raised by Tang Ziran and Lang Yue. As a child, he learned that his body carried the Golden Dragon King's domineering bloodline; the power naturally strengthened his physique but could become uncontrollable if left unguided 16. He began blacksmithing under Mang Tian both to support his family and to discipline the immense strength within him 15 18.

His soul was divided by the Tiger Talisman at the age of six, creating Bai Lin and Hei Lin: two contrasting souls who initially shared one body and sea of consciousness 213. Bai Lin retained a gentle, compassionate disposition, while Hei Lin pursued power with cold detachment. Their shared Golden Dragon King bloodline allowed either to take control in battle, though Hei Lin's control was markedly more ruthless 54 55.

Bai Lin accepted Na'er as his younger sister after discovering that she possessed a Silver Dragon King bloodline.
