Early the next morning.
Lei Qi was called out before he had even woken up.
Honestly, at his level, it made no difference if he went without sleep for several days. Still, he simply liked sleeping and lounging in bed.
Though he hated it, he got up, washed, and hurried to the Thunder Clan's main hall.
There were not nearly as many people here today as there had been when he first arrived. Instead, there were only Lei Ying, an old man who appeared somewhat older than Lei Ying, and two middle-aged men.
"Tianchi, Lei Qi is in your care," Lei Ying said to Mang Tianchi when he saw Lei Qi arrive.
"Rest assured, Clan Chief," Mang Tianchi replied.
Naturally, he knew about Lei Qi's circumstances!
This was quite an extraordinary little fellow.
The reason he was called Mang Tianchi rather than Lei Tianchi was that his bloodline grade had been low in childhood, and he had been sent outside the clan.
Such things happened every year.
However, Mang Tianchi had instead risen to prominence after leaving the Thunder Clan. Unlike Medicine Elder, he held no resentment toward the clan. When the family had sent him away, they had also provided him with certain gifts.
The nature of the two situations was still somewhat different.
The other two were named Yang Ji and Zhang Yi.
Both were commanders in the Thunder Clan's Thunder Legion.
They had both been minor geniuses discovered among the ordinary civilian districts outside. However, because they lacked the Dou Di bloodline, they had been stripped of the Lei surname. Even so, their loyalty to the Thunder Clan was absolute.
Yang Ji's cultivation had even reached the level of an eight-star Dou Zun.
Zhang Yi was somewhat weaker, but he was still at the peak of seven-star Dou Zun.
The two of them were naturally Lei Qi's bodyguards.
After all, Lei Qi intended to travel the continent.
Afterward, they followed Mang Tianchi out of the Thunder Realm.
Beyond the Thunder Realm lay the endless Thunder Mountain Range. Dark clouds roiled overhead all year round, while lightning flashed and thunder rumbled.
Yet it was precisely such a place that was more suitable for the Thunder Clan to create a small world. After leaving, they first headed to Sky-Thunder City.
Few forces on the Central Plains continent now knew much about the Dou Di families. Yet even emerging forces did not dare develop in this region, for a Half-Saint expert guarded Sky-Thunder City.
Those unaware of the truth could not afford to provoke a Half-Saint. Those who knew could afford even less to provoke the Thunder Clan behind him.
Thus, even this outer region was, in truth, part of the Thunder Realm.
Their destination was the Divine Farmer Mountain Range, located in the far south of the Central Plains. In some respects, this area had already left the boundaries of the Central Plains and was therefore quite remote.
Yet a mountain need not be high if immortals dwell within it. The same applied to this mountain range. Although the Divine Farmer Mountain Range was a wild and untamed region, filled with poisonous insects and countless ferocious beasts rarely seen in the Central Plains, the presence of the Medicine Clan had made it remarkably bustling. Furthermore, the range produced all sorts of rare medicinal ingredients. Many alchemists traveled thousands of miles to seek materials for pill refinement, making the Divine Farmer Mountain Range exceptionally lively.
The Medicine Canon was the most important event held by the Medicine Clan every few years. Its timing was not entirely fixed and could change depending on various circumstances. Overall, it was somewhat similar to Pill Tower's Pill Gathering. To some extent, it was a grand convention for the continent's true top-tier alchemists.
Through this convention, people could learn who was the number-one alchemist on the continent!
Aside from members of the Medicine Clan, those eligible to participate in the Medicine Canon were master alchemists who had once possessed, or currently possessed, tremendous fame in the Central Plains along with exceptional alchemy skills. They could also receive invitations, though such invitees were generally few in number. After all, alchemists worthy of the Medicine Clan's attention were as rare as phoenix feathers and qilin horns across the continent.
Still, none of that diminished the grandeur of the Medicine Canon, if for no other reason than the title of the continent's number-one alchemist!
However, only people of status could participate in the Medicine Clan's Medicine Canon. It was not like Pill Tower's event, which was publicized throughout the continent.
Whether Pill Tower accepted it or not, they truly fell somewhat short of the Medicine Clan in pill refinement.
Although Lei Qi was already a Dou Huang, his travel speed was not particularly fast.
Along the way, they traveled aboard a spatial vessel.
Lei Qi also saw a spatial wormhole for the first time today.
To be honest, though, such a place was not enough to make Lei Qi overly excited.
Fortunately, thanks to Mang Tianchi, they moved quickly. In roughly three days, they arrived at the Divine Farmer Mountain Range.
The rolling clouds and mist above the mountain range were no ordinary phenomenon, but were formed from gathered heaven and earth energy. Cultivating here would likely be much faster than elsewhere.
That made sense. What territory owned by a great sect or aristocratic family would be poor?
Before long, they arrived above a deep ravine in the depths of the mountain range. Across from it stood a massive stone arch hundreds of zhang tall, quietly emanating an ancient, weathered aura.
At the center of the arch was a distorted patch of space. This was the spatial gate leading to the Medicine Clan. At this moment, figures continuously flew over from the sky or the depths of the forest before landing outside the giant stone arch. Only after taking out jade slips and handing them to the guards dressed in Medicine Clan robes outside the arch were they permitted to enter.
"Thunder Clan, Mang Tianchi." Upon arriving, Mang Tianchi took out a jade slip and tossed it over.
"Please enter, the four of you. After you enter, someone will specifically guide you into the Medicine Realm."
Once the guards let them pass, the four stepped into the distorted space.
Only then did Mang Tianchi sigh. "I wonder whether we'll get to see that old man Yao Dan refine pills this year."
At present, Yao Dan was undoubtedly the number-one alchemist on the entire Dou Qi Continent.
No matter what force one looked at, no one could possibly surpass him in alchemy.
"If we can witness it once, this trip won't have been in vain," Lei Qi muttered.
In truth, he was not all that interested in pill refinement. He had come only to see what level the Medicine Clan's few young geniuses had reached.
"Let's go. The people receiving us are here." Mang Tianchi had merely sighed casually.
Unless the Medicine Clan had no one else left, how could the clan chief personally step in?
Soon, a giant bird flew over. Then an elder of the Medicine Clan said with a smile, "Hehe, I didn't expect Elder Mang to be leading the group this time."
"Heh, you hold this every few years. You can't just send someone over to go through the motions every time," Mang Tianchi said.
The Medicine Clan elder did not mind Mang Tianchi's blunt manner. However, when he saw Lei Qi, he grew somewhat curious. "Why have you brought a junior from the clan along this time?"
"Doesn't your Medicine Clan have several outstanding young ladies? Perhaps he might form a marriage alliance or something." Mang Tianchi remained as calm as ever.
The Medicine Clan elder looked slightly displeased.
Outstanding young ladies? A marriage alliance?
Dream on!
Among the Dou Di families, any woman with decent talent would absolutely not be allowed to lose her virginity before reaching Dou Sheng, as it would affect the power of her bloodline.
There were more ordinary women, of course, but any young man brought along to wander about had to be a Thunder Clan genius. What family genius would marry a woman of poor aptitude?
