Background / History
The Thunder Clan is an ancient clan based in the Thunder Realm, a small world concealed amid the Thunder Mountain Range. Its outer region includes Sky-Thunder City, while the clan’s inner realm is reserved for its highest-level experts and life-or-death clan affairs 2 8.
Like the other Dou Di clans, the Thunder Clan suffered a gradual decline in bloodline strength after Dou Emperors vanished from the world. Nevertheless, it remained one of the continent’s major ancient powers, alongside the Soul, Ancient, Flame, Medicine, Stone, and Spirit Clans 1 37.
The emergence of Lei Qi and Lei Dong—whose initial bloodline tests exceeded sixth grade—gave the clan renewed hope of producing future Dou Saints and restoring its prominence. Clan Chief Lei Ying consequently opened the ancestral grounds for their cultivation 1 2.
Lei Qi’s rise fundamentally changed the clan’s position. He was appointed Young Patriarch before the coming-of-age ceremony, gained the elders’ confidence through his plans against the Soul Clan, and was eventually acknowledged as the clan’s new chief after demonstrating that the clan could not survive through complacency alone 59 87 89 202.
Under Lei Qi’s leadership, the Thunder Clan expanded its strength through high-grade medicinal resources, cultivation opportunities, and an alliance with the Ancient Void Dragon Clan. Its experts helped establish Zi Yan as the Dragon Emperor by suppressing the rebellion on Ancient Dragon Island, securing a powerful external partner for the clan 87 94.
The clan fought a three-month war against the Ancient Clan with Flame Clan support, defeating Ancient Clan forces, occupying a border city, and forcing the Ancient Clan to reconsider its former superiority 135 136. Its relationship with the Flame Clan later reversed completely: the Thunder Clan invaded and subjugated the Flame Clan, although the Flame Clan was subsequently annihilated by the Soul Clan during the latter’s multi-front invasion 222 223 256.
During the final conflict with the Soul Clan, the Thunder Clan joined the Ancient and Yao Clans in a survival alliance while preparing spatial passages for mutual support. Although its Ancient Jade was stolen during a Soul Clan raid and the clan suffered damage, its principal experts and core strength survived 253 256. Lei Qi later achieved the Dou God realm, killed Hun Tiandi, and led the Thunder Clan in exterminating the Soul Clan. Afterward, he established a new Thunder Clan in the central region of the Central Plains, where the clan’s bloodline was renewed through its connection to a living Dou God 261.

Bloodline
The Thunder Clan’s Dou Di bloodline accelerates cultivation before the Dou Venerate realm. However, bloodline purity also determines a cultivator’s eventual ceiling: members with insufficiently strong bloodlines often find advancement beyond Dou Venerate extremely difficult 1 37.
Bloodline testing is a major clan event. Children are tested on a star disk, and high grades determine their cultivation priority and status within the clan. The Thunder Realm is the clan’s primary territory. It lies beyond the Thunder Mountain Range, where dark clouds, lightning, and thunder persist throughout the year—conditions well suited to lightning-attribute cultivation 8.
The realm includes an outer area, an inner realm, military patrols, residences for key members, and the clan’s ancestral grounds 2 37.
The realm’s barrier was repeatedly reinforced by Lei Qi, Lei Ying, Lei Jin, Lei Qing, and Lei Mo after the Soul Clan’s invasion. Although the Soul Clan breached the barrier and caused internal chaos while stealing the clan’s Ancient Jade, the Thunder Clan’s damage was comparatively limited 253 256.
Following the Soul Clan’s destruction, Lei Qi established a new Thunder Clan in the central region of the Central Plains. This became the clan’s postwar base and symbolized its transition from one ancient clan among several into the dominant bloodline faction of the continent 261.
Sky-Thunder City
Sky-Thunder City serves as an outer-region gateway connected to the Thunder Realm. A Half-Saint guards the city, deterring both those unaware of the Thunder Clan and those who know its true backing 8.
Thunder Clan Ancestral Land
The ancestral land is a Thunder Realm created by the clan’s Thunder Emperor. It is opened only at enormous resource cost and contains dense lightning energy, inherited cultivation methods, Dou Skills, secret arts, and combat puppets 2 3.
- Entrants may remain for nearly ten years, but receive jade slips to summon extraction if they cannot endure the dangers 2 3.

The cultivation benefits of three Rainbow Sacred Lotuses, together with Lei Qi’s distributed resources, contributed significantly to the clan’s later increase in Dou Saint and Half-Saint experts 121.

Tuo She Ancient Jade
The Thunder Clan possessed one fragment of the Tuo She Ancient Jade, which was kept in the ancestral hall under the protection of a resident Dou Saint 87.
During the Soul Clan’s multi-front offensive, Hun Gu’s force infiltrated the Thunder Realm, avoided prolonged combat with the clan’s elite, and seized the Thunder Clan’s jade fragment. The attackers also acquired the Flame Clan’s fragment before withdrawing 253.
Strength
The Thunder Clan is portrayed as vastly stronger than ordinary Central Plains factions. Its patrol soldiers are Dou Kings or higher, its commanders are Dou Venerates, and Dou Emperors and Dou Ancestors are common within the clan 37.

The clan’s recorded strength rose sharply under Lei Qi. It possessed forty Dou Saints, including eighteen at four-star or higher, and nearly eighty Half-Saints when he first convened the elders as Young Patriarch 87. Its force later increased to forty-eight Dou Saints and sixty-six Half-Saints, before surpassing two hundred Dou Saints and five hundred Half-Saints after further rewards and cultivation 121 227.
By the Soul Clan’s assault on the Thunder Realm, the defending force included Lei Jin, another Nine-Star Dou Saint, more than ten high-level Dou Saints, and roughly one hundred Dou Saints in total. This strength forced Hun Gu to avoid an outright clash and instead target weaker descendants and the Ancient Jade 253.
The Thunder Clan was initially considered inferior to the Soul Clan and Ancient Clan in top-level combat power. However, its rapid rise overturned this assessment: it fielded multiple Nine-Star Dou Saints, fought the Ancient Clan to a standstill or better, survived the Soul Clan’s invasion, and ultimately exterminated the Soul Clan after Lei Qi became a Dou God 2 137 253 261.
