Background / History

The Thunder Clan is an ancient clan based in the Thunder Realm, a small world concealed amid the Thunder Mountain Range. Its outer region includes Sky-Thunder City, while the clan’s inner realm is reserved for its highest-level experts and life-or-death clan affairs 2 8.

Like the other Dou Di clans, the Thunder Clan has suffered a gradual decline in bloodline strength since Dou Emperors vanished from the world. Nevertheless, it remains one of the continent’s major ancient powers, alongside the Soul, Ancient, Flame, Medicine, Stone, and Spirit Clans 1 37.

The emergence of Lei Qi and Lei Dong—whose initial bloodline tests exceeded sixth grade—gave the clan renewed hope of producing future Dou Saints and restoring its prominence. Clan Chief Lei Ying consequently opened the ancestral grounds for their cultivation 1 2.

Bloodline

The Thunder Clan’s Dou Di bloodline accelerates cultivation before the Dou Venerate realm. However, bloodline purity also determines a cultivator’s eventual ceiling: members with insufficiently strong bloodlines often find advancement beyond Dou Venerate extremely difficult 1 37.

Bloodline testing is a major clan event. Children are tested on a star disk, and high grades determine their cultivation priority and status within the clan. Lighting six stars in childhood indicates the potential for a ninth-grade bloodline by adulthood; Lei Qi’s seventh-grade high result was considered a possible sign of divine-grade potential 1.

Thunder Clan Ancestral Land

The ancestral land is a Thunder Realm created by the clan’s Thunder Emperor. It is opened only at enormous resource cost and contains dense lightning energy, inherited cultivation methods, Dou Skills, secret arts, and combat puppets 2 3.

• Entrants may remain for nearly ten years, but receive jade slips to summon extraction if they cannot endure the dangers 2 3.
• The grounds contain multiple levels guarded by puppets ranging from low-level opponents to Dou Emperor-level guardians 3 6.
• Cultivators above the Dou Emperor realm are rejected by the grounds, preserving it as an inheritance site for younger talents 4.

The elders considered allowing talented younger disciples to cultivate at Lei Qi’s outer residence, both to strengthen the clan’s younger generation and to assess his suitability for future leadership 46 48 49.

The Thunder Clan is portrayed as vastly stronger than ordinary Central Plains factions. Its patrol soldiers are Dou Kings or higher, its commanders are Dou Venerates, and Dou Emperors and Dou Ancestors are common within the clan 37.

Despite its strength, the clan is stated to be behind the Soul Clan and Ancient Clan in top-level combat power. Lei Ying and Lei Jin are its foremost known experts, whereas the Soul Clan has four Demon Saints and the Ancient Clan has the Three Immortals in addition to their clan chiefs 2 49.
