Tang Wulin was not particularly good at dancing, but he remembered that Gu Yue was.
So when a new piece of music began, he let Gu Yue lead him through the dance. With his control over his own body, keeping up with her rhythm was effortless.
Her tasseled skirt blossomed around him. Like the most elegant elf beneath the moon, Gu Yue danced around the treasure she had claimed, declaring her ownership.
The strings suddenly climbed in pitch, the sweeping notes driving the entire piece to its climax. Tang Wulin wrapped an arm around her waist, and amid their interweaving steps, the two spun together, tracing a graceful arc.
Using the support Tang Wulin gave her, Gu Yue turned once in midair. Her skirt flared up, revealing her fair, slender calves.
As the orchestra gradually faded, she spun smoothly back into Tang Wulin's arms, ending the dance.
She raised her head, her eyes reflecting Tang Wulin's figure. Unable to stop himself, Tang Wulin lowered his head. Gu Yue froze for a moment, but he stopped himself, took a step back, released her waist, and took her hand. He gently kissed the back of her smooth hand, then directly pulled her out of the dance floor.
A handsome man and a beautiful woman were already eye-catching enough, and their seamless coordination and exceptional dancing won applause from the entire hall.
At the edge of the room.
Xu Lizhi had even forgotten to eat. "The captain and Gu Yue are way too cool..."
Ye Xinglan said, "Eat your food."
Xie Xie and Xu Xiaoyan were both stunned. Xie Xie muttered, "Is there anything Boss can't do?"
Xu Xiaoyan's eyes sparkled. "Sister Yue is so beautiful! I love her so much!"
Watching them dance, Yue Zhengyu felt tempted as well. He held out a hand to Xu Xiaoyan. "May I have this dance, miss?"
Xu Xiaoyan froze for a moment. "I... I'm not very good at dancing."
Yue Zhengyu smiled slightly. "That's all right. I can teach you."
He took Xu Xiaoyan's hand and led her toward the dance floor.
Xie Xie looked eagerly at Yuanen, only to receive a cold, "Get lost."
On the deck.
Though dancing one song consumed little physical strength for them, both of them could not help blushing.
Tang Wulin stood in the cool sea breeze, calming the heat in his heart, unable to resist despising himself for behaving like an inexperienced young boy.
Gu Yue stood on the other side with her back to him, her pretty face flushed red. She unconsciously clenched her hand, as though the warmth of Tang Wulin's lips still lingered upon it.
Actually, according to etiquette, it was perfectly normal for a male partner to offer a social hand-kiss to his female partner after a dance. But Gu Yue could not help letting her thoughts run wild. What her teacher Leng Yaozhu had told her earlier echoed endlessly in her mind like a devilish whisper.
"Gu Yue..."
"Don't say anything yet!" she interrupted, her voice slightly raised.
Tang Wulin froze. Even with the night so deep, his eyesight allowed him to clearly see her ears flushed bright red.
He could not help tilting his head and chuckling.
Gu Yue immediately turned back and glared at him.
Tang Wulin raised his hands in surrender. "My fault."
Gu Yue said indignantly, "Liar!"
Tang Wulin spread his hands. "You have to understand..."
Gu Yue glared at him again. "Don't talk!"
Tang Wulin had no choice but to shut up.
Gu Yue took a deep breath. She wanted to say something harsh, but could not bring herself to do it. She could only huff angrily and prepare to leave, tossing back an awkward remark before she went—
"You danced well. At least you didn't embarrass me."
Tang Wulin watched as she practically fled off the deck.
Then he stood alone on the deck and chuckled softly.
After laughing, he leaned against the railing, his brows relaxed, feeling a long-unfamiliar sense of ease.
