Background / History
Chu Jin was raised in Bluestone Town by his uncle, Chu Lie, after both of his soul-master parents died on a Spirit Hall mission. At his awakening ceremony, his first martial soul appeared as a crippled-winged golden beast and his innate soul power was measured at only level one, drawing pity from the townspeople. Chu Jin remained composed and instead comforted his uncle. 1
Immediately afterward, the Hextech System activated. Chu Jin selected New Recruit, Level Up!, and Rule the Field, gaining a second martial soul slot, an immediate soul-power increase, and the foundation for the Overlord Army ability. His stable soul power rose to level three, and he awakened the spiritual-type Double Pupils. 1 2
With Chu Lie's help, Chu Jin investigated Xiao Jin's diet and growth. He recorded how different ores, soul-beast materials, and elemental resources affected the martial soul and the physical feedback it gave him. This regimen rapidly improved his strength, bone toughness, and cultivation, allowing him to reach level ten in three months. 3 4 5
His unusual potential brought Guang Ling Douluo to Bluestone Town, after which Chu Jin and Chu Lie relocated to Spirit City. Following testing at the Consecration Hall, Chu Jin was accepted as a core disciple and assigned a specialized training path: Xiao Jin as his primary martial soul, the heavy halberd for close combat, and Double Pupils for observation and control. 6 8 11
Chu Jin obtained his first soul ring by defeating and absorbing an 880-year Radiant Nightmare Dragon Lizard. The process completed Xiao Jin's wings, elevated Chu Jin to level thirteen, and granted Holy Dragon Soul Suppression. 9 10
A year later, Chu Jin joined the River Valley Town operation against the Bloodfang Evil Soul Group, whose leader Blood Butcher had killed his parents. He served as a temporary commander, coordinated more than a hundred defenders and civilians through the Overlord Army, and ultimately killed Blood Butcher after Qian Renxue destroyed the final blood-formation node. 18 19 20 21 22
After the mission, Chu Jin entered Spirit Hall Academy to develop team coordination and experience against varied martial souls. He defeated the higher-level Golden Generation member Yan in their academy duel by exploiting a weakness in Yan's soul-power circulation. 23 24 25
Personality
Chu Jin is calm, pragmatic, and unusually self-controlled for his age. Rather than hiding all of his abnormal abilities, he judged that revealing enough of his talent would earn Spirit Hall's protection and resources. He also treats Xiao Jin's growth as a problem to be tested and recorded rather than a miracle to be blindly trusted. 2 5
He prioritizes judgment over emotion in combat. Although Blood Butcher murdered his parents, Chu Jin focused first on rescuing civilians, organizing the battlefield, and dismantling the enemy's blood formation before pursuing vengeance. 18 20 22
Chu Jin is driven in training and accepts harsh instruction without complaint. He is also respectful of others' secrets; after identifying Qian Renxue beneath the Qian Qinghe disguise, he chose not to expose her until she was ready to reveal herself. 14 15 16
Abilities & Skills
Xiao Jin
Xiao Jin is Chu Jin's primary external beast martial soul: a golden, dragon- and light-attributed creature with independent consciousness. It was initially seen as a crippled-winged mutation, but Double Pupils identifies it as a future Twelve-Winged Sacred Dragon. 1 2 3
- Can manifest independently, fight alongside Chu Jin, react to danger, and follow simple commands. 7 12 20
- Devours compatible materials to strengthen its bloodline, scales, bones, wings, and attributes; part of the converted energy feeds back into Chu Jin. 3 5 8
- Prefers light-element metals and dragon-attributed materials; it can also consume fire- and lightning-attributed materials with weaker results. 5
- Black Meteoric Iron particularly reinforces Chu Jin's bones, while Starshine Iron primarily improves his muscles and vitality. 3 4
- Its daily digestion capacity is limited, repeated consumption of the same material produces diminishing returns, and it avoids poisonous materials. 5
- After absorbing the Radiant Nightmare Dragon Lizard ring, it grew a complete pair of wings and gained limited flight ability. 10
Double Pupils
Chu Jin's second martial soul manifests as dark-gold double pupils. It specializes in perception, analysis, mental interference, and identifying weaknesses in soul-power circulation. 2 8
- Observes soul-power flow, meridians, muscle movement, and the preparation of enemy soul skills. 6 8 24
- Identifies weak points in defensive techniques and soul-power transitions, enabling precise halberd strikes. 20 22 25
- Can see through mental-skill structures and illusion threads, though resisting them depends on the gap in spiritual strength. 9 14
- Pierced Qian Renxue's disguise by identifying the six angel-wing soul-power nodes on her back. 11
- Can impose a brief, oppressive mental vision on targets; the effect becomes shorter against opponents far stronger than Chu Jin. 2 8
Holy Dragon Soul Suppression
Holy Dragon Soul Suppression is Xiao Jin's first soul skill, gained from the 880-year Radiant Nightmare Dragon Lizard soul ring. It combines light, dragon might, and spiritual intimidation into an area-of-effect roar. 10
- Suppresses enemies' thoughts and martial souls long enough for Chu Jin to follow with a halberd attack. 10 11 25
- Is especially effective against dark-, evil-, and undead-attributed opponents. 10
- Temporarily immobilized a level-26 Windshadow Cat Great Soul Master, allowing Chu Jin to defeat him in a single exchange. 11
- Can still interrupt much stronger foes, but only briefly; against Soul King Blood Butcher, the effect lasted roughly half a breath. 22
Overlord Army
The Overlord Army is the battlefield ability derived from Rule the Field. It allows Chu Jin to turn allied resolve, trust, and fighting spirit into coordinated combat power. 1 7 20
- First manifested during the mountain-road ambush, where Chu Jin used terrain and command to defeat bandits with minimal losses. 7
- Improves battlefield coordination and helps allied groups operate as a unified formation. 20
- Expanded substantially during the River Valley Town rescue, where civilians and soul masters began trusting Chu Jin's commands. 20 22
- Enhances Chu Jin's recovery of strength, mental power, and soul power as allied trust rises. 20
- Supports a Faith Anchor connection with Qian Renxue, allowing rapid transmission of tactical information. 21 22
Heavy Halberd Combat
Chu Jin trains under Chu Lie and Golden Crocodile Douluo in heavy-halberd combat, body tempering, footwork, and weapon fundamentals. 4 8 14
- Progressed from an 80-pound iron halberd to a 300-pound training halberd within three months. 5
- Wields an 800-jin heavy halberd during the River Valley Town operation. 20
- Combines Double Pupils' analysis with sweeps, thrusts, and strikes aimed at openings rather than an opponent's strongest defense. 11 24 25
- Uses forging experience and physical training to understand weapon balance, force transmission, and structural weaknesses. 4 14
Hextech System
The Hextech System activated at Chu Jin's martial soul awakening and presented five initial choices, of which he selected three. 1
- New Recruit — Opens an additional martial soul slot and awakens a compatible intrinsic martial soul, resulting in Double Pupils. 1 2
- Level Up! — Initially raises Chu Jin from level one to level three; later provides documented bonus levels after his own cultivation progress. 2 5
- Rule the Field — Establishes the growth path that later manifests as the Overlord Army. 1 7
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Heavy halberd — Chu Jin's primary personal weapon for close combat. Its weight increases alongside his physical strength. 4 5 20
- Dragon-patterned heart-protecting mirror — Forged by Chu Lie from the broken Dragon-Patterned Spear and Light Feather Badge left by Chu Jin's parents; worn over his chest for protection. 23
- Parents' identity token — Carried before the River Valley Town mission and used by Chu Jin as a reminder of his purpose without allowing hatred to disrupt his breakthrough. 19
- Material-record notebook — Contains his experiments on Xiao Jin's compatible resources, digestion time, feedback, and possible side effects. 5
Relationships
- Chu Lie — Uncle, guardian, forging teacher, and strongest early supporter. He helps research Xiao Jin's diet, relocates with Chu Jin to Spirit City, and forges the heart-protecting mirror from Chu Jin's parents' keepsakes. 1 3 7 23
- Xiao Jin — Primary martial soul and independent companion. Their martial soul connection shares energy, danger awareness, pain, pressure, and combat support. 3 8 20 22
- Qian Renxue — Friend, ally, and frequent training partner. Chu Jin discovers her identity beneath the Qian Qinghe disguise but respects her secrecy; they later fight together at River Valley Town. 11 15 16 19 22
- Qian Daoliu — First Consecrator who approves Chu Jin's training path, accepts him as a core disciple, and oversees his development. 8 11
- Golden Crocodile Douluo — Mentor responsible for Chu Jin's body tempering and heavy-halberd training; he also accompanies Chu Jin on his first soul-ring hunt. 8 9 11 14
- Guang Ling Douluo — Mentor in combat judgment, long-range response, and reacting to high-speed attacks; he first brings Chu Jin to Spirit City. 6 7 8 11
- Yue Guan — Oversees Xiao Jin's cultivation materials and provides soul-beast theory guidance. 8 11
- Hu Liena — Fellow Spirit Hall talent and mental-type sparring partner. Her Charm tests the limits of Chu Jin's Double Pupils, while Xiao Jin breaks her illusion. 14
