Background / History

Chu Lie was the leading blacksmith of Bluestone Town and the guardian of his nephew, Chu Jin, after Chu Jin's parents, Spirit Hall soul masters Chu Xiao and Lin Yu, died protecting villagers from the Bloodfang Evil Soul Group. Though he hoped Chu Jin would inherit strong martial-soul talent, his concern at the awakening ceremony was solely whether the boy would be hurt by the result. 1

After Chu Jin awakened Xiao Jin and the Double Pupils, Chu Lie supported his nephew without pressing him to explain the abnormal changes surrounding his cultivation. He helped test Xiao Jin's appetite for special ores, purchased materials through merchant caravans, and kept practical track of the growing financial burden of feeding it. 2 3 4 5

He taught Chu Jin forging fundamentals, footwork, and the heavy halberd, personally crafting an eighty-jin practice weapon after Chu Jin chose the difficult weapon path. As Chu Jin's strength rose, Chu Lie successively replaced it with heavier halberds. 4 5

When Guang Ling Douluo offered to bring Chu Jin to Spirit City, Chu Lie accepted the move despite his reluctance, recognizing that Bluestone Town could no longer provide the resources Chu Jin needed. He relocated with him and established himself around Spirit City. 6 7 12

Following the River Valley Town operation and Blood Butcher's death, Chu Lie received Chu Jin's recovered family keepsakes. He reforged the broken Dragon-Patterned Spear into a dragon-patterned heart-protecting mirror and set Lin Yu's Light Feather Badge into its back, giving the finished item to Chu Jin for protection. 23

Personality
