Chapter 31: An Unstoppable Disaster?
Zhang Ye hadn't lied to Pietro about this.
General Zod, as a general of Krypton, was incredibly powerful. Even though he initially struggled to adapt to Earth's yellow sun, he quickly acclimated and, empowered by the sunlight, became a force of destruction.
Superman, or rather, Kryptonians, derive their primary power from the yellow sun. The yellow sun's rays alter their cells, turning them into a Man of Steel and awakening a biological field, granting them terrifying strength, speed, reflexes, and even the ability to fire lasers from their eyes.
Their abilities are so strong they're terrifying. If they reach their peak, even the old gods of Earth would have to avoid their sharp edge. This shows how powerful Kryptonians are, and stopping Zod would be no easy task.
"Wouldn't a nuke work? Those Kree were taken out by nukes," Pietro asked curiously, recalling the alien invasion in his own universe and the Kree who became prisoners.
"It's not that easy. Nukes can indeed harm Kryptonians, but they're not like the Kree. Kryptonians have terrifying individual combat abilities. It's uncertain if a nuke could even hit him, and even if it did in the yellow sun's domain, it's debatable whether it could kill Zod."
Zhang Ye shook its head. It was also considering ways to stop General Zod, but based on the descriptions it remembered, there weren't many options available.
First, there was Superman. Superman was able to snap General Zod's neck mainly because Superman had grown up on Earth, soaking up thirty years of sunlight. His body had been strengthened to an extremely terrifying level, far beyond what General Zod, who had just arrived on Earth, could match.
Initially, he was overwhelmed by General Zod and his female lieutenant because they were generals, born from the genetic database for combat. Their combat experience completely overwhelmed Superman.
But later, Superman used his super brain to constantly learn and adapt to various combat situations, gradually suppressing General Zod. In the end, although reluctantly, he killed General Zod to protect humanity.
But now, there was no Superman on Earth, only a young girl who had been locked up for twenty years and hadn't seen sunlight. Although she was also a Kryptonian and, like General Zod, had just been empowered by the yellow sun, sending her to fight a battle-hardened general head-on would be suicide.
In fact, it was indeed suicide. Supergirl Kara, in her rage, displayed impressive suppression, but didn't inflict any effective damage. Even with the help of The Flash, their combined efforts couldn't escape their fate of death.
It's no wonder, given the vast difference in their attributes. It's normal to be unable to win.
So even if the Justice League were formed, Zhang Ye didn't think they could defeat Zod without Superman, considering how the entire Justice League was overwhelmed by the newly resurrected Superman.
Moreover, without the arrival of the older Flash, the younger Flash would never have been born in this world.
This universe, from beginning to end, was a closed-loop universe.
The older Flash traveled back in time to save his mother, and he came here because the 'future' younger Flash kicked him halfway, and the reason he came was because the younger Flash needed the older Flash's help to obtain the Speed Force.
According to the evolution of this universe, the younger Flash, who hadn't experienced the pain of losing his mother, wouldn't have experienced that 'fated' lightning accident, so he naturally wouldn't become The Flash, and there would be no Reverse-Flash.
But the timeline was so 'fragile' that the time remnant of the future younger Flash intervened, bringing the older Flash to this universe and allowing the younger Flash to obtain the Speed Force. In this way, the future younger Flash was born logically, and the entire universe timeline became a closed loop.
It was precisely because of this closed loop that shouldn't exist that this universe collapsed under the older Flash's reckless actions, and several surrounding parallel universes were in danger, and could be destroyed with a slight carelessness.
Of course, it's not the fault of the future younger Flash. After all, his intentions were good. He merely wanted to save his world from being destroyed by General Zod, so he traveled through the timeline again and again.
But it wasn't that simple. To defeat a Kryptonian, without absolute combat power suppression, one could only rely on the help of Kryptonite.
Kryptonite, as the name suggests, is the radioactive wreckage of Krypton after its destruction. Although the wreckage of a planet sounds like a lot, it's just a drop in the ocean in the entire universe.
If it remembered correctly, Lex Luthor found a large piece of Kryptonite in the Pacific Ocean in the Batman v Superman movie, but Zhang Ye didn't think it could find it in such a short time.
And most importantly, since this universe was destined to be destroyed, the timeline couldn't possibly leave such a big 'flaw'.
So the biggest possibility was that there was no Kryptonite on Earth at all. Even if the Kryptonite from that year landed on the moon, it wouldn't land on Earth.
"Is he really that strong? Even I can't beat him?" Pietro still couldn't understand.
"Let's put it this way, if you ran around the Earth at your fastest speed and punched him, the result would be that he would be knocked away, dust himself off, and get up, while you would be instantly blasted into a cloud of blood by the reaction force," Zhang Ye spread its hands.
"How could this be..."
"If you called President X or Scarlet Witch over, we might be able to compete with him. After all, Kryptonians don't have magic resistance, and their resistance to mental abilities and magic is very weak, but that's impossible."
Just kidding, if President X was called over, President X would probably be directly reincarnated into General Zod. At that time, the invincible mental power plus the invincible body plus the chaos magic to rewrite reality, all the multi-universes would face the threat of this monster!
"Is there really no way? Can we only watch the destruction of this world without doing anything?" Pietro was a little disappointed. He wouldn't feel sorry for his own universe, because that desperate universe didn't deserve to be saved, but this world was different. There were still many beautiful things in this world.
They shouldn't be destroyed.
Looking at Pietro's sad appearance, Zhang Ye also sighed, then smiled. "Actually, it's not completely without a solution. I have a plan, but I can't guarantee it will be 100% successful."
"Really!?" Pietro's eyes lit up immediately upon hearing this. "I knew it, I knew these things couldn't stump you."
"Stop flattering me. We have a lot to do next, and there's no time for you to play games," Zhang Ye said with a smile, patting Pietro's shoulder.
"Haha, I can play games anytime." Pietro dropped his headphones, stood up, and looked at Zhang Ye excitedly. "Zhang, what should we do next?"
"First..."
The corners of Zhang Ye's mouth curled up slightly.
"We're going to Gotham to see an 'old friend'."
