Guilliman turned his head, facing his brother whom he had not seen for ten thousand years.

At this moment, he could clearly perceive two things.

The good thing is that he finally truly felt the essence deep within this body, the essence belonging to Primarch Guilliman, and intimately connected to the Warp.

It is not that it does not exist, but that it has been dormant for a long time, and now it is being subtly stirred by the Chaos of the outside world and the dramatic changes within.

The bad thing is that the essence is boiling, and at the heart of that boiling is an anger that is almost burning reason.

"Son of War" expresses his boundless rage against betrayers, against folly, and against those who cause irreparable consequences.

The target of this anger was crystal clear: Magnus.

It was precisely because of this brother's "Psionic Energy communication" that defied the ban and crossed the Warp back then.

The Webway project, on which Emperor of Mankind had placed their hopes, ultimately failed, plunging the Imperium into millennia of darkness and struggle.

Guilliman's reaction to Magnus was more one of "frustration with his lack of ambition."

Despite repeated warnings from the Emperor to stay away from the Warp, he insisted on delving into its depths; his offspring suffered Flesh Change due to Psionic Energy experiments, yet instead of seeking a complete solution, he attempted to ask Terra for help, only to invite trouble upon himself.

After causing such a disaster, instead of taking responsibility and seeking redemption, he simply walked away and completely embraced Chaos.

This is entirely their own doing.

But to some extent, it also started with a good intention that ended up doing something wrong.

However, betrayal is betrayal.

The Psionic Energy connection between the brothers became the perfect fuel and conduit for their rage.

Guilliman took a deep breath and forcefully suppressed the Primarch's surging rage.

He cannot be too swayed by these emotions; he is the emperor, and an emperor must have a more ruthless sense of judgment.

"Are you here to die, Magnus?"

Guilliman released his grip, and Carlos's mangled body floated away softly. "If you want, I'll grant your wish."

"Brother, you've really disappointed me."

Magnus shook his head, a hint of hurt flashing in his single eye, which was then replaced by fervor. "I was just here to 'take care of some business,' and happened to drop by to see you."

But now... I've changed my mind.

Your Psionic Energy is so radiant; how about we put aside our past grievances and explore the highest truths of the universe together?

You will be the only one qualified to stand shoulder to shoulder with me in the realm of Psionic Energy.

He truly felt an unprecedented sense of "pleasure".

The sense of accomplishment from corrupting others, especially Roboute Guilliman, who was once the most skeptical of Psionic Energy and the most rational, even surpasses the thirst for knowledge.

Gazing at the blue-gold flames, a symphony of order and destruction, his heart surged with emotion.

Right behind Magnus, ripples spread through the Warp, and one figure after another appeared.

They are the survivors of the Thousand Sons, whose bodies have long since vanished in the long years or in terrible deals, their souls eternally imprisoned within magnificent Power Armour.

The armor, adorned with ancient Egyptian-style carvings, burned silently, illuminated by the eerie blue flames of the Warp.

"Help me, Magnus!" Carlos's younger head screamed in Guilliman's hands, his voice distorted with terror. "You alone are no match for him!"

Your brother has undergone an inexplicable transformation! This is something neither the Lord of Change nor I foresaw!

"If we are not careful, we will all perish here today!"

"Quiet, Carlos." Magnus didn't turn his head, his tone tinged with impatience. "I'm already tired of your two incessantly chattering heads."

"I'm catching up with my brother, it's none of your business to interrupt."

He remained confident.

Even though Guilliman awakened a portion of his true power, brothers are still brothers, and their strength should be roughly equal.

Magnus is the master of Psionic Energy; what is there to fear in his Warp?

"You stupid red Ogryn!!" Carlos cursed, struggling to look at Guilliman.

He has two heads: one old, peering into the past; one young, foreseeing the future.

The latter is the ability he gained at a great cost after being thrown into the "Well of Eternity" deep within Tzeentch's Labyrinth —even Tzeentch himself is very secretive about that well.

Countless Greater Daemon sank into it, but only Carlos crawled out and split off this head that could glimpse the possibilities of the future.

At this moment, Guilliman's large hand is firmly grasping this "eye for the future".

Without warning, without hesitation.

Guilliman's arm muscles bulged, and a surge of immense Psionic Energy, mixed with pure physical force, erupted.

"No--!!!"

Carlos let out an extremely piercing wail, but the head containing the ability to see into the future had already burst open in Guilliman's palm like a ripe fruit.

Before the azure Psionic Energy could dissipate, it was swept away, devoured, and absorbed by the blue-gold flames surrounding Guilliman.

In Guilliman's eyes, countless shattered, fleeting glimpses of light flashed by in an instant.

A fragmented timeline, Chaos possibilities, fleeting glimpses of Destiny... he gained a vague perception of the "future".

The next second, a sharp, piercing sound came rushing in!

The Magnus's Blade —that strange weapon that combines the functions of a staff and a longsword—carrying a Psionic Energy blade that tears reality apart, has already slashed at Guilliman's side.

Magnus used Psionic Energy to achieve instantaneous teleportation.

"Brother, you should listen to me!"

"And you hurt my colleague, who might become your colleague in the future!" Magnus's voice was filled with offended anger.

"You should really continue your long-winded speech there."

Guilliman's voice was chillingly cold.

He didn't even move much; he simply raised his Hand of Dominion and grabbed the blade of Magnus's Blade that was slashing towards him!

Amidst the ear-piercing sounds of twisting metal and bursts of Psionic Energy, Magnus froze.

His all-out attack was actually caught by his opponent with one bare hand?

The hand seemed to be stuck in the hardest substance in the universe; no matter how much he activated his Psionic Energy, the blade remained completely still!

Guilliman coldly watched his shocked brother, then tossed the half-dead Carlos away like trash.

"For the sake of our blood ties, Magnus, I'll give you a couple more words."

Guilliman's voice was devoid of any warmth. "At least, your betrayal didn't stem from the inherent evil of your nature."

So, I'm giving you a chance.

He paused, then said, word by word:

"Kneel down and repent to me."

I grant you permission to return to the Imperium, and to once again command your legion—in its purified form."

This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision.

This was Guilliman's calculation.

The Imperium has too few Primarch available.

The Wolf King, the Lord of Drakes, the Raven, Dorn... all have disappeared without a trace.

He could not possibly deal with all the threats alone; even the Emperor himself could not do so.

There was a deeper and more pressing reason for recruiting Magnus: the Golden Throne.

That was originally intended for Magnus, the most Psionic Energy being, as the Emperor's "battery" and control center.

Because of his betrayal, the Emperor was forced to sit on the throne himself and endure the suffering of millennia of depletion.

The Emperor is now withered and emaciated, unable to leave his throne even for a moment, and has no chance of recovery whatsoever.

There are only two ways for the Master of Mankind to be relieved or to catch his breath: either the Emperor must rise, or someone can temporarily replace him and provide energy for the throne.

Magnus is undoubtedly the most suitable candidate in theory.
