Khorne's Temptation
Cracks in the void spread rampantly across the land constructed by the Eldar.
The eerie blue Psionic Energy light, like the blood of a dying behemoth, seeped continuously from the cracks in the Craftworlds, staining this ancient starfield with a hue of despair.
The flames of war have long since scorched this place beyond recognition.
The broken Wraithbone pillar leans diagonally into the scorched earth.
Broken pieces of armor and cold bones covered every inch of the land.
The air was thick with the Psionic Energy, the pungent odor of molten metal, and an overwhelming stench of blood, all mixed together to create the most iconic smell of war.
Blood God Kaine stood in the center of the ruins, like a trapped beast that had been thoroughly enraged.
He had long lost the elegance and majesty of the former Eldar War God; at this moment, he was a complete madman.
A hoarse, soul-rending roar kept bursting from his throat.
The sound didn't sound like the cry of an intelligent being, but more like the roar of a savage beast, causing the surrounding air to tremble violently.
Even the fragments of Wraithbone floating in mid-air were shaken and rattled.
He gripped the Sword of Kaine, already stained crimson by the flames of war, tightly in his hands, the muscles in his arms bulging and taut.
Each swing was wielded with all his might, and the shrill sound of the blade cutting through the air was extremely piercing.
The crimson sword energy, like a raging wave of blood, swept wildly toward the figure in front.
Instinct completely dominated his mind.
All reason, all pride, all memories of the Eldar's glory were completely consumed by the extreme anger and warlike desire at this moment.
Only one thought remained in his mind: simple, brutal, and obsessive to the extreme.
Go forward relentlessly, without giving a second thought.
He wanted to kill the human in front of him, to kill Robert Guilliman.
He wanted to tear this Son of War's body apart, to crush his soul under his sword, to reclaim everything that belonged to him, and to return to his whole self.
He is the God of War of the Eldar Eldar, the embodiment of war that has accompanied the race since its inception, and an immortal being who fought bloody battles in the War in Heaven.
The God of War of the Eldar was born to fight, and he was destined to die in war. This was the fate etched deep in his soul, his only destiny, and his final dignity.
Kaine swung his sword faster and faster, the red light and shadow weaving into an impenetrable net around him.
Each strike carried a resolute determination to perish together with his opponent; his body trembled slightly under the surge of Psionic Energy.
The shattered Wraithbone armor was already riddled with cracks, yet it still supported him in launching wave after wave of reckless attacks.
This almost manic, unwavering determination, this pure and extreme will to fight, was like a the Rock thrown into a calm lake.
This instantly caused a violent tremor in the red wave deep within Warp.
Within the crimson borders of the Warp, the Brass Throne stands majestically.
The throne is piled high with the skulls of countless lives.
Those skulls came from different races and different civilizations, each one stained with endless blood and resentment.
Bathed in the crimson glow of the Warp, it exuded a chilling aura.
The Khorne, Blood God sat atop this sea of skulls, his massive body covered in brass armor engraved with grotesque runes.
The face beneath the helmet was blurred, yet it exuded a terrifying pressure that surpassed all war.
When he sensed Kaine's extreme war madness, Khorne's will, dormant for millennia, suddenly awakened.
A deafening roar of laughter, echoing throughout the entire Warp, resounded from the Brass Throne.
The laughter was rough, violent, and filled with undisguised joy, like a thousand warhammers striking steel at the same time.
The shock caused the crimson clouds in Warp to churn and crack continuously.
Khorne was very happy, with genuine joy.
He seemed to already see that a peerless general was about to join his ranks.
A top-tier fighter capable of sweeping across the Milky Way and reaping endless skulls and blood for him.
In his view, the current situation was perfect, a windfall that allowed him to reap the benefits without lifting a finger.
Guilliman, the Son of War of the Imperium of Man, the Primarch created by the Emperor himself, is the most perfect war darling of the Material Universe.
With unparalleled combat prowess, wielding the Emperor's Sword, and carrying the hope for humanity's survival, he is a born warrior and the embodiment of war.
Kaine, the Blood God and War God of the Eldar, was once qualified to contend with him for the throne of blood and war.
In terms of understanding of war, instinct for fighting, and will to kill, few in the entire Milky Way can rival him.
Either of these two beings, if they were to join his ranks, would significantly increase his power.
This gave him an absolute advantage in the power struggle among the Four Chaos Gods.
Khorne has even begun to envision that when these two war incarnations become his minions, the entire Milky Way will become his hunting ground.
Endless blood will flow into rivers, and countless skulls will be piled up to form a new throne.
He secretly calculated that as long as he gave it a little push and a little blessing, he could completely pull one side into the embrace of Chaos.
This deal was a sure thing, a highlight of Blood God's career, a win-win situation.
It's important to understand that the reason Kaine failed to ascend to the supreme throne of the Blood God was simply because he was merely the Eldar's war god.
It was born much earlier than I have, and its foundation is not as deep.
If we set aside the constraints of race and time of birth, Kaine is absolutely qualified to stand shoulder to shoulder with him and compete for the supreme authority of blood, war, and courage.
Even though he is now just a broken fragment, and even though he is no longer at his peak, Kaine is still the one who is closest to the essence of war after the Blood God.
His will to fight and his fighting instincts far Khorne those of any of Greater Daemon.
Even those Daemon Prince have conquered throughout the ages are inferior to Kaine in terms of pure war talent.
This is a warrior's talent, an instinct etched into their soul, a treasure that even the blessings of Chaos cannot replicate.
"So this is the War God of the Eldar?! Just as powerless as the Eldar himself!"
A cold and solemn voice rang out on the battlefield, breaking Kaine's frenzied offensive and shattering Khorne's delusions in the Warp.
Guilliman held the Emperor's Sword, his blue-gold Power Armour gleaming in the crimson flames of war, like an inextinguishable beacon in the darkness.
His face was serious, his eyes sharp as swords, showing no sign of panic, only absolute control over the war.
He slowly swung the Emperor's Sword in his hand, and a dazzling golden flame instantly rippled across the blade.
That flame was unlike any ordinary fire, nor like any evil fire in the Warp; it was a pure, ultimate Psionic Energy fire, the embodiment of the Emperor's will, a flame of destruction and vengeance, an extension of the power of that solitary fifth Chaos Gods.
Golden flames rippled wildly with the swing of the sword, creating faint ripples in the air wherever they passed.
Terrifyingly high temperatures and Psionic Energy pressure swept across the land, incinerating all evil and all the filth of the Warp.
Even a god-like body like Kaine would feel excruciating pain upon being touched by these flames, his soul being burned and purified.
Because the source of this flame is that which sits upon the Golden Throne.
The supreme Psyker single-handedly guards the Warp passage and carries all of humanity's will for destruction and revenge is an existence that transcends Chaos and mortality.
Even though Kaine was once the revered God of War of the Eldar, and an unparalleled powerhouse who War in Heaven.
Once struck by this Psionic Energy fire, there is only the fate of being destroyed or purified; there are no exceptions.
