Who Is Playing Whom? Author: Ba Ye Dang [Completed + Side Stories]
Synopsis:
Until after his death, Feng Yang did not know he was a scumbag supporting character. Everything he experienced in his previous life—being disfigured and burned, his family destroyed, his future ruined, becoming a madman in the eyes of the world, and finally escaping on the way to a sanitarium only to disappear without a trace—all stemmed from the revenge of a rebirth-novel protagonist after returning from a miserable death. However, outside the plot, no one knew that the disfigured, insane Feng Yang had actually gained Yin-Yang eyes between life and death. He had also gained a vengeful ghost husband.
Reborn once more, Feng Yang returned to before everything began. The rebirth-novel protagonist had not yet had the chance to harm him, his family was still safe and sound, and the vengeful ghost had not yet died.
Yin Li: "Why are you so good to me?"
Feng Yang: "I fell in love with you after you died."
A very well-off Yin Li: "...Is being alive not good enough?"
Feng Yang chuckled: "The living you is awkward and rebellious, not smooth at all."
Yin Li: "...Playing me?"
[A few years later]
Feng Yang looked at Yin Li, who had nearly cost himself his life out of jealousy toward his own self: Who exactly is playing whom?

Chapter 1
[Have you ever seen a vengeful ghost dissipate into thin air?]
In the pitch-black night, light burst from a body like a grand and dazzling fireworks display. The blinding light drew closer, as if to swallow everything, and scorching flames mixed with a blast of air rushed toward him. Feng Yang opened his eyes abruptly, his dark pupils turning blood-red from the irritation of the thick smoke and heat before him.
"Feng Yang, I'll fight you to the death!" A voice filled with resentment rang out from his side. A dark shadow lunged at him with all its might, only to be repelled by an invisible ring of light the moment it touched Feng Yang's body. The figure slammed heavily into a prop cabinet leaning against the wall. The already precarious cabinet swayed under the violent impact and collapsed with a crash, pinning the figure who had attacked Feng Yang underneath it. Su Nan, his legs crushed by the prop cabinet, let out an instinctive, miserable howl, yet his dark eyes remained fixed on Feng Yang, his delicate face filled with hatred and madness.
Thick dust mixed with intense heat and black smoke billowed everywhere. Feng Yang felt a warmth in the palm of his right hand. A white light, invisible to the naked eye, emanated from his palm, forming a protective barrier around him that firmly shielded him from the surrounding smoke and heat.
Feng Yang lowered his head, staring fixedly at his right palm. A Vengeful Ghost Talisman glowing with white light rotated clockwise in his palm. Even though it was nothing more than unconscious soul power, it still protected Feng Yang carefully, fearing he might suffer even the slightest harm.
Feng Yang felt the warmth in his palm, but what flashed before his eyes was the image of the vengeful ghost dissipating, his soul power scattering into the night sky. The final scene in his memory was the soul power flying across the sky like a galaxy, rushing toward him and wrapping him in a cocoon of light.
"Feng Yang! Feng Yang! Why would you do this to me! I'm going to kill you—"
[Feng Yang, I like you!]
The whispers in his ears and the roars before him converged. Feng Yang lowered his gaze, looking at the boy whose legs were crushed by the prop cabinet. He then looked at the smoke-filled surroundings—the walls deliberately smeared with blood and handprints, the various blood-stained, terrifying ghost props, and the cries for help and screams faintly drifting from ahead. His sealed memories slowly unlocked. Feng Yang frowned in hesitation, his gaze landing on the delicate boy's face, which looked familiar but appeared even more hideous due to hatred. He asked, "Are you... Su Nan?"
Had he been sent back twenty years by the vengeful ghost's soul power?
Twenty years ago, before everything had happened, even before the vengeful ghost had died!
Feng Yang's heart pounded. The faces of his parents, his older brother, and the vengeful ghost flashed rapidly through his mind.
"Feng Yang!" The pain in his legs, crushed by the prop cabinet, was piercing, yet Su Nan felt his heart hurt even more than his legs. He had given everything for Feng Yang, even losing his family because of him. He did not understand why Feng Yang would treat him like this.
Even if he didn't like him anymore, he could have just told him to his face. Why, why treat him like that? Why let that vicious woman hire a killer!
"I'm going to kill you! Kill you!"
Feng Yang looked down from above at the boy who was pinned under the prop cabinet, unable to move, yet still wearing a hideous expression, pounding the ground with his fists and screaming that he wanted to kill him. He vaguely remembered that in his previous life, Su Nan had also charged at him inexplicably, determined to drag him down with him inside the burning haunted house. In the end, Feng Yang had been disfigured and burned, falling into a deep coma, while his parents, his brother, and Su Nan's parents had all died in a car accident on their way to the hospital.
Yet before that, the two had been close childhood friends. Su Nan had even harbored a secret crush on him, which was why Feng Yang could never understand why Su Nan had suddenly gone insane in his previous life.
"Want to kill me? How did I offend you?" Feng Yang raised an eyebrow slightly. Relying on the protection of the Vengeful Ghost Talisman, he ignored the burning heat and rolling smoke, half-squatting in front of Su Nan to interrogate him with composure.
In his previous life, after finally waking up from his coma only to find he was not only disfigured but that his entire family had died in a car accident because of his hospitalization, Feng Yang had also confronted the equally battered Su Nan with a heart full of questions. Unfortunately, Su Nan would rather die than tell him the reason. Feng Yang had been young then; even though he hated Su Nan to the bone, he hadn't thought of killing him. He had simply beaten Su Nan up and then vanished from everyone's sight.
But having lived a second life, although Feng Yang was curious about Su Nan's motive for wanting to kill him, he was not obsessed with it. Seeing Su Nan glare at him with a hideous, hateful expression, his teeth clenched tight, refusing to say a word, Feng Yang stood up, lacking interest in dealing with a self-destructive enemy. The moment he turned to walk away, a sense of warning arose in his heart.
In the depths of his soul, Feng Yang knew that if he left today and let Su Nan die here, the Heavenly Dao would blame the death on the Vengeful Ghost Talisman. At that time, the Vengeful Ghost Talisman, which had already dissipated and was left with only unconscious soul power, would suffer heavenly retribution once more. And this time, Feng Yang feared he wouldn't even be able to protect the vengeful ghost's soul power.
